Blue Dragon (2006)

by Artoon, Bird Studio, Mistwalker, Microsoft Game Studios
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure
Themes:Open world, Action, Fantasy
Game modes:Single player
Story:"Hironobu Sakaguchi, the Father of the Final Fantasy series, and Artoon present the world of Blue Dragon on Xbox 360. Featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama, the Father of "Dragon Ball Z", and music by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game (RPG) centered on five youngsters who possess miraculous strength and magical power to control shadow creatures that mirror the actions of their masters." Blue Dragon follows the story of five friends (Shu, Jiro, Kluke, Zola, and Marumaro) as they travel across the world to confront Nene, the evil ruler of the Grand Kingdom. The setting inspired separate anime and manga adaptations, although these follow the story to different degrees and feature a different cast of characters. The game follows a traditional role-playing design, based around exploration and turn-based combat. The gameplay of Blue Dragon uses turn-based gameplay elements seen in older Japanese role-playing video games. The game world contains two major types of areas: towns, in which the player can rest and purchase items, and dungeon-like areas, with numerous foes to be defeated.Show more

Blue Dragon is a great alternative to Dragon Quest and probably should of been as big. As one of the two games developed by Mistwalker, the other being Lost Odyssey (vote for that one too), the story is great and a fun tale. The world feels rich and comparable to Dragon Quest 8!

I have so many fond memories of watching my brother play this game as a child. I was 3 years old when the game came out and this game has stuck with me through all these years. I grew up to become a big fan of other JRPGs such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest and I feel like this game and franchise really had the potential to be one of the greats. I'd love to see this game get a revive. especially in such a big era of nostalgia and people loving the old graphical style of ps1/2 and xbox 360 games.

This was the first JRPG I remember playing as a kid and I loved it. The only thing I regret is that I never had the chance to finish it before I had to move and sell my console to have enough money to afford to move back to my mother's home country.

I got this game as a birthday present. Just looking at it gives me a warm feeling, like it's the day I got it. I remember the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the rainy day, and the crooked chocolate cake my aunt made. And I get lost in a sea of memories, where every design of those beautifully characters by Akira transports me to a simpler, happier time. I discovered it through the anime and just had to play it (I begged my mom to buy it). This was the first JRPG I remember playing and finishing as a kid, and I loved it. I've always wanted to play it properly on another platform, since I no longer have a microsoft console and it's not available on Xbox Cloud Gaming or Game Pass. With the passing of Akira Toriyama, I thought all the works he was involved in would get more attention, but apparently it didn't happen with Blue Dragon, which is a shame because I think the game is a lot of fun. I'd love to see this game revived and be able to play it on pc.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams
Silent Hill 2: Restless DreamsSilent Hill 2: Restless Dreams is an updated version of of Silent Hill 2. It contains all of the content of the original version and adds several pieces of new content. The most significant is a new short scenario called Born from a Wish, where players take control of Maria from her first moments right up to where she first appears in the main game. Also included is a sixth ending to the main scenario and a minor feature that allows the player to turn off the graphical effect, which makes the game look like it was shot on cheap film stock.

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
Neopets: The Darkest FaeriePlayers control Tor and Roberta, two animal-like Neopets on a quest against evil. By switching between the two at any time, players can use Tor's up-close melee attacks or cause damage from afar with Roberta's spells. This game stays faithful to the traditional third-person action-adventure. Magical items and weapons gained along the way will develop the characters' abilities and strengths. In particular, elementally-aligned motes can be attached to weapons and armor as a combat bonus. There are many puzzles and side-quests along the way, and players will fight evil Neopets.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
