I played four demos on my YouTube channel for Steam Next Fest 2024: Cyclopean: The Great Abyss, Mandragora, Call of Boba, and Aloft. While all four titles turned out to be fun and memorable, Cyclopean was the stand-out title. I loved it, and my viewers loved it. RPG elements, rogue-like elements, and dungeon crawler elements—Cyclopean has a little bit of everything from the classic trinity of PC gaming–Wizardry, Ultima, and Rogue–and it blends them most capably. Put simply, Cyclopean has that old-school charm that many PC gamers crave. At the same time, it's very atmospheric: a quality that Schmidt Workshops knows well and is good at creating. Islands of the Caliph, another title of his, is also highly atmospheric, retro, and–most importantly–fun! I can see myself sinking hours upon hours into Cyclopean, going for the perfect run in it's eldritch-soaked dungeons and eerie, incredibly off-putting overworld. I can hardly wait to play this game on stream and enjoy it together with my audience. The spooky atmosphere is perfect for late night streams, particularly in summer or autumn. If it comes to GOG, I'll buy it right away. I prefer my games from GOG because of the lack of DRM and GOG's pro-gamer enviorment. You should, too. =D
