Vib-RibbonVib-Ribbon is a rhythm game where the player must maneuver musically generated obstacles based on either the game's own soundtrack or a music CD of the player's choice. The player must avoid each obstacle by pressing the correct button at the right time - either L, R, X or down. In more complex tracks, obstacles are combined and the player must press the correct combination of buttons in order the avoid the obstacle. The game is loaded with six tracks to play by Japanese band Laugh and Peace. Additionally, the game's unique software means that the game is loaded into the console's RAM, allowing the player in insert their own music CDs, which generate a unique course for each track.

It is part of the BEMANI franchise. The game is played with a controller with one turn table, one foot pedal and 5 keys, three white and two black. On the screen you will see bars moving from the top to bottom in columns representing each of the keys, foot pedal and the turntable. When the bars reach the judgement line it is time to scratch. The foot pedal lane has been moved to the rightmost lane (previously it was the leftmost). The difficulty range has been expanded to 1 - 9.Goods do no longer break combo. The gameplay frame COUNTER has been added. As the name entails, the game focuses on bringing over the songs from beatmania Core Remix, all 25 new songs from that version is added. Additionally 3 new songs from beatmania IIDX 3rd style was included, 10 songs from beatmania completeMIX 2 and 7 songs from beatmania ClubMIX. 13 songs got a new "remixed" ANOTHER chart. 111 old songs return from beatmania III. The total number of songs is 169.

The game is played with a controller with one turn table and 5 keys, three white and two black. On the screen you will see bars moving from the top to bottom in columns representing each of the keys and the turntable. When the bars reach the judgement line it is time to scratch. The game focuses on remixing the songs from the first two game, where every song features a normal and remixed version. it is the first game that lets you change the modifiers from the music select screen, which becomes standard later in the series, but only only when the game is in event mode. Since the game focuses on remixes no songs from clubMIX was brought over. Instead 17 songs from beatmania and beatmania 2ndMIX was included and remixed. An additional 7 brand new songs was also included for a total of 41 songs.
