Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition is a hidden gem of a fighting game, developed by Melty Blood/UNI devs French Bread and Ecole Software, and published by Sega. It plays as a 2D sprite-based fighter with 3D backgrounds and features 20 fighters, most of which are from Dengeki Bunko's various light novels, and two Sega guests. There are also over 30 assist characters to choose from with unique abilities. Ignition is the updated version of the game with more characters, released exclusively on PS3, PS4, Vita, and arcades in Japan. While the original DBFC was released in the West on PS3, Ignition never received a localization, nor is it (or the original DBFC) easily available for purchase outside of Japan. Despite its inaccessibility, DBFCI still has a competitive scene, even getting a dedicated tournament at CEO 2025 this June. DBFCI, like all fighting games, is worth preserving. If not for its fun gameplay and competitive scene, it should be made available again for the characters, light novels and anime featured in the roster. The game features stories that are still actively ongoing today, such as Sword Art Online, Devil is a Part-Timer, and Virtua Fighter, while also featuring some fan-favorite, dormant classics like Toradora. DBFCI still has a lot of appeal in 2025, as forums for some of these anime featured have member counts in the hundreds of thousands. Releasing (and possibly even localizing) DBFCI in the west after over a decade would not only be a huge win for the fighting game community, but for anime fans as well. Apologies for the wall of text, it looks like paragraphs aren't supported here lol.

I played in a local tournament for this game on Black History Month with the tag "Piccolo is Black". This game means a lot to the local fighting game communities that like to run tournaments of smaller games.

This is one of those goated fighting games that never got the true shot it deserved. The gameplay is simple to pick up but has a surprising amount of depth, and the characters are all fun to play. I'm sure if more people knew about this one they'd love it.
The original version of this game came out in the west, translated and everything it was great. And then almost immediately afterwards, Ignition came out in Japan. We NEVER got a western release of this game, and this is the perfect opportunity to get one. Or to at least a JP version available in the west. The game deserves a second chance at life and is a solid fighting game. Everyone is getting mad at one clip of Ro-Kyo-Bu, why not show everyone that the girls can actually do. They turn their opponents into basketballs and literally dunk them! Let me see Kirito and Tatsuya Shiba fight! Let me see Kirino Kousaka and Leafa team up and fight Taiga Aisaka or Shana. I want to see Selvaria and Kuroyukihime fight!
Dengeki really deserves a pc port with good netcode, spectates and lobbies. It really is an almost perfect fighting game with great balance, limitless potential and exploration of synergies. Even after several hundreds of hours of playing, I discover some new tech and combinations! The game is very deep, while also being easy to grasp, and the strict resource management really makes you use your brain!
Those games also need your vote!

Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas
Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the NinjasThe game's controls consists of an eight-way joystick and two buttons for attacking and jumping. Like in Sunset Riders, the player can jump between higher or lower levels, as well as slide. The player character attacks primarily by shooting an unlimited supply of shurikens/daggers, or using his/her weapon at close range. The game includes some improvements that were not included in Sunset Riders, such as the ability for players to change characters after they lose a credit as well as a life gauge that allows the player to sustain up to four hits from enemy attacks before losing a life. The player must defeat box-carrying enemies in order to obtain power-up items. These includes a shuriken power-up that can increase the player's shooting power by up to two levels (which differ between characters), food (sushi, tempura, udon, sukiyaki) that will replenish the player's life gauge, a blue orb with the kanji shinobi (忍?) that will surround the player with a barrier for a limited period, a yellow orb with the kanji chikara (力?) that will destroy all on-screen enemies, and various kinds of jewelry for extra points. There are a total of nine stages in the game, in which its own boss awaiting to challenge the player. Like in Sunset Riders, each player will be graded at the end of stage by how much they shot the boss; the player with the highest hit percentage will receive bonus points

Dead or Alive
Dead or AliveDead or Alive is a fighting game and the first entry in Team Ninja's long-running Dead or Alive series. Its most defining features were its speed and countering system. Dead or Alive put an emphasis on speed, and relied more on simplistic commands and reaction time. Furthermore, its countering system was the first in the fighting genre to utilize different commands that corresponded to each type of attack. There are two kinds of holds, an Offensive Hold (OH) and a Defensive Hold (DH). The latter are executed by holding back or forward on the directional pad along with the guard input to either force away or counter-damage an opponent. The Playstation port of the game was later backported for arcade and titled Dead or Alive++.

The fifth installment in the Guilty Gear series, Guilty Gear Xrd was developed using Unreal Engine 3, with cel-shaded graphics in place of the series traditional hand drawn sprites. Following the storyline of the last game in the series, Guilty Gear 2: Overture, it introduced four new characters. The first Xrd game, Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- was released in arcades on February 20, 2014, and for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan and North America in December of the same year, with a digital-only release in Europe in June 2015, and to the PC via Valve Corporation's digital store, Steam, on December 10th, 2015. The game has been praised for its cel-shaded graphics and approachable gameplay, but criticized for its non-interactive story mode and smaller roster of characters. A sequel follow-up,[b] titled Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-, was announced for a Q2 2016 release on consoles.
