Dragon Age II

Dragon Age II (2011)

by BioWare Edmonton, Electronic Arts
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure
Themes:Action, Fantasy
Game modes:Single player
Story:Dragon Age II is the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins and the second major game in the series. Like its predecessor, players can explore and engage in combat from a third-person perspective and will also encounter various companions who play major roles in the plot and gameplay. Depending on players' decisions and dialogue, a companion will either recognize the main character Hawke as a friend or a rival. The game adopts the wheel-based dialogue system, meaning short responses that reflect different tones and attitudes the player wishes to choose for Hawke. The combat system is quite similar to the one used in the previous Dragon Age game, though it has been noticeably sped up.Show more

(Sarcastic) Hawke is my favourite character from a game with character creator. Specific humour sarcastic Hawkes have is something special and unique. Their voice acting (both male and female) is top notch and even default presets for both characters are amazing (never before and after have I played a default version if I could make my own). Also, it would be amazing to have both DA:O and DA2 on GOG.

I've been following the Dragon Age series since its beginnings in late 2009. I first played Origins in early 2010 and since then, it's become my most played game of all time. But... despite not getting to properly play it until 2015, DA2 is definitely my favourite in the series. It's such a comforting game to me and I replay it every year. It has great characters (for the most part), good music, a charming art style and gameplay that isn't overly complicated. On top of it all, this game is very special to me because Anders's romance with Male Hawke helped me figure out my identity i.e. who I am. I want it on GOG, because EA App is a horrible launcher and I want to deal with less hassles just to play a game I love.

Bringt es einfach zurück, es ist immer noch eines der besten RPG's aller Zeiten. Wenn ich sehe was heut zu Tage für ein Müll als AAA Spie verkauft wird....einfach Horror.
I remember watching a Let's Play of "Dragon Age: Origins" and wanting to play the next game myself. Sadly, the first title had no demo so I wound up finishing a Let's Play while trying to see if the game was for me. I got the demo for "Dragon Age 2". I recommend that GOG get this one if they do bring the full game on here. I felt like I was taking crazy pills with Darkspawn suddenly looking like the Joker's minions. The simple dialogue tree had been changed to resemble the dialogue wheel from "Mass Effect" and even in the demo I had no clue of what my character was talking about or what I was about to say based on the lines that were given to me. They changed what characters like Isabella (who is in the first game) and Flemeth looked like. You're telling me that Flemeth dressed like that before the Grey Warden returned to kill her? I was hoping that they'd right the ship after player feedback but the demo was a good indication of what to expect. A more action-oriented approach to combat and changing everything else for the worse. People in 2025 seem to have forgotten that a lot of the problems currently attributed to "Dragon Age 4" can also be attributed to this title but I have no rose-tinted glasses. In terms of race customization this game is even worse. People refer to this game's protagonist as Hawke and not "The Champion" in the same vein as "The Grey Warden" as they do the previous game because you cannot play as anyone else. You can't be an elf from a Dalish tribe or a dwarf mercenary who fought at the Battle of Ostagar. You can already find the demo for this game online. Play the demo and see if the game still holds up for you. I will say this, the legal notice was very short so I could quickly get to the gameplay. That was very nice. My most positive experience with the demo and something that I unironically think that more developers/publishers should emulate.

A Game from a Time where EA and Bioware brought some good Games on the Market. To be honest i already got it on Origin but as i've mentioned it a few Times im more and more dissapointed of all this Game-Launchers i got already now on my PC. ( If someone ask how many: Aside from GOG there are 4 others. ) And i am a Guy who want to have all his Games on one Place and my Choice felt on GOG since a few Years now. And by the Way Dragon Age Origins is already avaiable here in the GOG Store so why not continue the Francise to make it complete. Thats my Wish and i know GOG can make it possible.

The recent event involving a person with the same name as a character from another game reminded me of Anders from Dragon Age II. Ander’s story, and the core conflict behind it that is presented in the game, has always been a source of intense debate in the fandom, but no one can argue that it does not invite us to some serious thinking, now more than ever in the current political environment. I sure think about many things in this game a lot. The scope of this game is small, but it’s the perfect setup for a fantastically written story with exceptional characters. This game means a lot to me and to many others. It’s a timeless gem that deserves to be preserved.
DA2 is my favourite Dragon Age game. There’s a certain way that I feel when I play the game that is just great and unlike anything else. Not something I can put into words really. All I know is when I play DAO I’m looking forward to starting DA2 and when I’m playing DAI I’m already planning my next Hawke. For all the game’s flaws, it has a great cast of characters and setting. Kirkwall is incredibly lore-rich, expanding the Qunari and Tevinter, while also giving fans their first glimpse of the North of Thedas. DA2 has the best sidequests in the series with Sheparding Wolves being one that lives in my mind rent-free. The game’s friendship and rivalry system is something unique to this entry and something that I’ve seen actually praised in recent years: “Wouldn’t it be great if X game had the friendship/rivalry system from DA2?” The most important thing to know is that this is the game that gave us Varric Tethras (among many other fan-favourite characters) - the best writer and most loved dwarf in all of Thedas. I’d love to see this game on GOG, and I think it deserves to be preserved in the same way as DAO.
While i was draged by the blame hype at the era it got released, when i first played it on a netcafe to pass the time i enjoyed it for the casual fan it was. I actually gave it chance and while it was not something crazy, it was fun for it's play trough, not demanding much having low requirement for a computer so even a potato could run it and with a decent mod community and generally if you go with a like the characters, ignore the story messages you might like it more than you think. At least that was my experience with the game.
