I'm pretty picky about which Mega Man games I enjoy, and in my opinion Mega Man X4 is the last great Mega Man X game. X4 was its big jump to CD-ROM, featuring a massive boost to its presentation. The art and graphics have been upgraded, the music is CD-quality, there's original anime full-motion video, voiced characters and more. Even by Mega Man X5, these games felt like a noticeable step down in quality and budget. X4 remains special.
I pick this because was when the X series peaked, the action was fierce, two playable characters with two different playstyles... this was released on CD-ROM as I had a copy of the game.

Raptor sets the new standard for PC shooters. This game will do for shooters what Wolfenstein did for 3D games. Incredibly smooth VGA graphics and animation are only half the story. Each level consists of a couple of smaller micro-levels and is set in an iconic location within the States, such as Alcatraz or Las Vegas, and has its own specific enemies. The goal on each level is to rescue one of the monsters.
While moving between levels, you take part in a crazy minigame where you control Joey's car as he drives towards the next area. While driving, Joey must avoid obstacles on his way, but he can also collect ammunition and shoot at the obstacles.Comedy

At times, the game presents the player with an opportunity to rescue a human who is being attacked by one or multiple dinosaurs.
