Themes:Action, Horror, Thriller, Warfare, Science fiction, Stealth, Survival
Game modes:Single player
Story:Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter with survival horror elements, based on the Russian book of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Most of the game takes place underground, but several times Artyom will have to venture outside, into the perpetual nuclear winter. Game progression is fairly linear, though areas may be explored more thoroughly for items and ammunition. Setpieces include a few on-rails sequences, missions that involve defending a location from an onslaught of monsters, and others. A few stages can be completed in a stealthy fashion.Show more

The original Metro 2033 was pulled from sale when the Redux version was released but as usual with this kind of thing it's not a clear cut improvement. Features from the sequel were backported, stealth mechanics were heavily changed, enemy placement and patrol routes changed, scripted sequences were altered, and so on. It's a very different experience. If the publisher still insists on not selling the original Metro 2033, I hope it could at least be added as a bonus with purchases of Metro 2033 Redux, as GOG has done for other games. People who want to experience original PC version of this game are currently forced to resort to dodgy resellers of old Steam keys, or piracy.
Redux version of the game has some controversial design changes. I would like to have an option to play the original version. After all, GoG is about preserving good old games.

It Is impossible to get this game without buying physical copy or pirating/key reseller, and gog is about preserving games. I would really want to try out original
Metro 2033 is a pretty cool game. It's a shame that the original from 2010 was delisted from steam so you don't have many options of buying it anymore. If the original Metro 2033 comes to GOG then it would be a great way of preserving this game and hopefully they can fix the performance problems that it had. Even though there is the redux version, this game is still pretty fun to play and it's a bit of a different experience than the redux. The developers or publishers may not want to sell this game again but I think they should consider making it a free bonus for anyone who buys the redux version.

For me, this helped defined not just how vital a unique atmosphere is to a story but the unique possibilities of telling stories within games. Sure, it's very much a child of Half-Life, but the human and spiritual implications of Metro run far deeper than Freeman's journey. There's a tale in each station, the way the social order is set up — the markets, the beggars, the families and the different facilities for housing, relaxing and even waste disposal. The character of Khan helps protagonist Artyom and the player to understand why different entities and people behave the way they do. Even the moralistic arc of the karma system encourages the player to try to engage with the world on a deeper level, asking them to consider the stakes and cost of life as they sneak or cut their way through bandits, ideologues and the mutants. Perhaps its implementation is flawed, but it is a system rewarding engagement with the world on a more considered, tactile basis. It helps flesh out 2033's setting not just as a shooting gallery and dungeon crawler but as world separate from ours that we've had the privilege of being granted temporary access to. With the original Metro 2033 currently unlisted, a pretty important cult hit is now largely unavailable in its original form. Making this available would also help contrast against 2033 Redux and Last Light, enlightening players as to what was arguably improved and what was left behind as the series surged forward. The original 2033 is a rough gem and, despite carrying some of the developer's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. DNA, still stands tall and stalwart amongst its peers.
.............................................You don't need a Master Race PC to play, that's all I'm going to say...............................................
I don't know why everyone asking the OG 2033 in this platform, let alone play it. I played it on PC and it's broken! From frequent crashing and unstable framerate that I just preferred to play the Redux release instead or if they want to like the feel of the OG, get in f@#K!ng Xbox 360, for god sake. If it ever come here, I would rather it be included for FREE as a bonus, rather than spending a dime to it. Or at least, included it for Redux purchase/Owners.

Endless Legend
Endless LegendAnother sunrise, another day of toil. Food must be grown, industries built, science and magic advanced, and wealth collected. Urgency drives these simple efforts, however, for your planet holds a history of unexplained apocalypse, and the winter you just survived was the worst on record. A fact that has also been true for the previous five. As you discover the lost secrets of your world and the mysteries of the legends and ruins that exist as much in reality as in rumor, you will come to see that you are not alone. Other peoples also struggle to survive, to grow, and perhaps even to conquer. You have a city, a loyal populace, and a few troops; your power and magic should be sufficient to keep them alive. But beyond that, nothing is certain… Where will you go, what will you find, and how will you react? Will your trail be one of roses, or of blood?
