Pathways was where it all began (kind of) for Bungie. This was one of the bigger projects they took on, and the first truly innovative and inspired game they created. It would serve as the foundation for a lot of their future game development ethos, and despite being rough around the edges (it came out in the era of wolfenstein) it shines through with some innovative mechanics. Stiff FPS controls, strict item management are buoyed by an interesting story and the ability to talk to the dead (by actually typing) in order to look for clues and piece together the mystery of the god that lies Dead but Dreaming at the bottom of a mysterious ziggurat in the Yucatan Peninsula.
