Story:Rising Lands takes place in a not too distant future, where earth has been devastated by a comet. The survivors have formed small tribes, and as the leader of one of these tribes, the player's mission is to guide their people to become rulers of the post-apocalyptic earth.

This is a game I still remember on occassion, I really weird RTS where tech progress happened permanently per mission and you had to individually recruit, train and feed your troops.
A friend let me borrow it in ages past and I never got to play it again. I'd really like to check it once more and see how it holds up.
**Rising Lands** was one of the first RTS games I ever played; it was a gift from a dear friend. I was young and didn’t understand much English (maybe I still don’t), but I would get lost trying to survive level after level.
Unfortunately, the version I had was buggy and caused the game to crash, so I was never able to complete it. I would love to see how this game ends! 😊
UK Computer Buyer Magazine Sept 1998 had a demo of Rising Lands (along with IE 4.01 SP1 lol).
I was 9 years old and played it to death, but it was impossibly difficult. Why? Well I didn't realise sending food to the 'Culture' got you more Settlers! Mum got me the full game for Christmas but I never did complete it, the version I had was buggy and in 1998 there wasn't a way to fix it.
This is the sort of weird RTS that deserves a second chance, and we'd like a first chance at beating it!
This was one of my favourite RTS from my childhood. I bought it long time ago and I still have the CD. The game is challenging, you have to feed your troops and villagers, defeat enemy clans or keep peace with them.
You get little technology every mission but fortunately you can steal it (very recommended)

Dune II: The Building of a DynastyDune II is often considered the first mainstream modern real-time strategy game and established many conventions of the genre. Even though set in Frank Herbert's famous Dune universe, the game is only loosely connected to the plot of any of the books or the films based from them. Controlling either of the three Houses, the player must fight a number of battles against the other Houses. In the early levels, the goal is simply to earn a certain number of credits, while in the later missions, all enemies must be destroyed.
The single resource in the game is the Spice, which must be collected by harvesters. The spice is converted to credits in a refinery, which are then spent to construct additional buildings and units. There are two terrain types: buildings can only be constructed on stone, while the Spice is only found on sand. However, units moving on sand attract the large sandworms of Dune, who are virtually indestructible and can swallow even large units whole. As levels progress, new and more advanced buildings and units are made available, including structures like a radar station, a repair facility or defense turrets and, for units, various ground troops, light vehicles and tanks. Each House can construct one unique special unit, and, after building a palace improvement, can unleash a unique palace effect.Science fiction

Each house has its own vice and virtue and the right selection could give the player right start to the game but he could learn as well as, later in the game with time. Once you choose a side, you to win the King’s challenge of producing the most amount of spice. It won’t be as easy as it sounds. For getting the control of the spices, the player has to fight over the other two houses by all means.
Dune 2000 is done with enough of stunt and live-in scenes to pep up the theme and there is a soothing sound score to add to the overall theme. It’s a game based on the Dune series book of Frank Herbert and gives the player a real pleasure of both combat and competition.Action Science fiction
