by LEVEL-5, SCE Japan Studio, Sony Computer Entertainment
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure
Themes:Action, Fantasy, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:Rogue Galaxy is an action role playing game set in a futuristic fantasy universe, in which the player moves through a continuous environment with no load time between overworld exploration and battles. Battles occur as random encounters, Rogue Galaxy uses a real-time hack and slash combat system in which the player fights with a party of three characters. The player has direct control over only one character, although they can change which character that is at any time. The two NPCs fight independently of the player character, based on a strategy selected prior to the battle. Available strategies include fighting especially aggressively, targeting a specific enemy or not fighting at all. The strategy can also be changed at any time during the battle. Additionally, the player can issue specific orders to the NPCs during combat, such as having them use an item or activate one of their special abilities.Show more

All i want in life is the have this GEM in PC. This game has so much to do... So much to see. Great music, great gameplay. It's so much fun to 100% (besides the Frog Log thing...), it would take like 200 hours. But it's so worth it. The Insectron ''mini game'' itself is beyond fun.

This game is just perfect. It was my first experience with RPG gameplay in my early 10s and I was obssessed with it for years. I would play that with my sibling in our PS2 for hours and days in a row. The characters are amazing, so as their backstory, there are a lot of different things to do, there are mini games and the quarries are so much fun to complete. The planets are beautiful, each one with their own story and particularities and items and insects (there is a side quest that it's also a minigame which you can battle insects, The Insectron) to find. It's a dream coming true to have it in PC. I really love this game.

This is such a hidden gem, its bad that no much people know about this rpg, its totally worth to bring it to this era and maybe in the future get a sequel or remaster/remake 10/10.

Amazing game. Spent many hours playing it and still couldn't finish the game. The only flaw is that it has an open ending. Maybe it will receive its deserved sequel if it sells well on GOG.

This was one of the best games to have been released on the PS2. A hidden gem that flew under the radar for many people because it was one of the last games to be released on the platform and was overshadowed by the hype of the PS3. This game is a cult classic and for good reason. It is a travesty that the only way to play this game is to own a PS2, unlike many other classics to have been originally released on the platform, this never got a re-release or remake.

Make this game one of the ones you slightly update, because if you could figure out a way to set up a online mode which is only for people to battle their bug collections against each other you would add the bit of polish to this gem that I think it would need to stand out all over again. Great game and I need a reason to break my strategy guide out of the bookshelf again, please!
I love this game so much! The characters, planets, even the items you can obtain, have so much history put into them. I adore the music, and keep a playlist of the soundtrack to listen to in my car driving. After discovering this game from a friend at school long ago, it has been a treasured story and pulls on every emotion throughout its extensive narrative. And after showing my wife all of the cutscenes, so she could understand what it meant to me, when we had our first child, we named him Jaster, because the main character is heroic and had values we also want to instill in him.
This game was, and is, HIGHLY slept on. Im SO glad to see its on the list already. PS2 had some of the best JRPGs ever made. This game is no exception. We absolutely need these classics to be on GOG
Those games also need your vote!
Heart of Africa
Heart of AfricaIn Heart of Africa, the unofficial follow-up to The Seven Cities of Gold, you play the part of an adventurer who is to continue a quest started by another explorer, Hiram Primm whose expedition has been reported missing while looking for the lost tomb of Pharaoh Ahnk Ahnk. Find the tomb and you will stand to be the sole beneficiary to Primm’s estate. The only information that you have to go by is Primm’s unpublished paper on the legend of Ahnk-Ahnk and his African diary. The quest begins near a large port town and here you can find stores which will allow you to purchase items which are necessary like ropes and shovels. You start the quest with only $250. Use the map provided to find important landmarks and locations which the natives may name when giving you directions. The natives hold the key to your success. Not all natives behave the same to strangers. Offer them gold, copper, or other gifts to win their friendship. But be careful, not all natives see your offering as a sign of friendship. They each have their own cultures. Presenting them with the wrong gift may hinder your attempts to get needed information. Use the joystick to move about, press the fire button when you are standing still to move control to the four icons to the left of the exploration window. Click these icons for further options. The diary icon lets you page through your diary to review the clues that you get from the native chiefs. The map icon lets you see what you have explored so far. The options icon offers three choices. Two let you check on your location and condition. The third lets you drop things off to form a cache. The hand icon lets you select what you have in your hand and it lets you use items from your backpack. If you are delirious, your joystick control will become uncertain, reversed or randomized. Go to a pub in a port city to save your game. You can save up to 10 different games at once on a single disk. Each time that you start a new game, the location of the tomb and other valuables is subject to change.

Elthlead
ElthleadElthlead is also notable for being the first fantasy SLG game ever developed. While most SLG fans look back to Master of Monsters or Fire Emblem as the origin of the genre, these games were released in 1988 and 1990 respectively. The world of Elthlead also introduced the universe that would provide the framework for NCS' later Langrisser series.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
Sly Cooper and the Thievius RaccoonusSly Cooper is the latest in a long line of master thieves. When he was a kit, a gang called the Fiendish Five killed his family and divided up their book on the art of thieving: the Thievius Raccoonus. Sly must defeat all the members of the gang to recover the book while evading Carmelita Fox, a police officer chasing him around the world to apprehend him. This game is divided into five worlds, each themed around a particular part of the world and the villain headquartered there. Most worlds are structured as a central hub with entrances to numerous individual levels. Each of the levels has a primary goals which earns you a key. You must collect all the keys in the world to fight the world's boss. Many of the levels have a platformer structure. The objective of these worlds is to reach the location of the key. There are substantial stealth elements here as you must dodge searchlights and trips lasers which set off alarms and avoid alerting guards. In addition to the main objective, there are clue bottles to find. Finding all the clues in a level allows you to open a safe with a page from the Thievius Raccoonus which grants a new ability of some sort. After getting this, there is also a master thief sprint where you must get from the start of a level to the exit within a time limit.
