A friend and I used to play this about 20 years ago, he played half the guys and I played the other half. We competed to see who could kill the most enemies and get the highest/most medals. Great times!
I remember this game so clearly. 25 years ago, I went with my grandma and grandpa to the local store. At the time, I was too young to buy it myself, but my grandpa didn’t really understand PC games and ended up buying it for me. It was a lovely trip into town and a memory I cherish. Now, all I have left is the game in my drawer and the memory to hold on to. I would love to be able to play it again.
I got this game around the same time as I saw Saving Private Ryan. Soldiers at War felt like the perfect game to compliment my WW2 hype at the time. Similar to Silent Storm if it had maintained a more historically authentic theme throughout, it was a turn based tactical strategy game akin to Xcom.
It has been a quarter of a century since I got to play this and I never had the pleasure of playing multiplayer. A GOG release would be an instant buy for me.
This is quite good Jagged Alliance type game, that became at time unplayable as cursor scrolled through screen at light speed and picking up your men was more like matter of luck. Also, this game had at time quite a lot custom missions which might still be available somewhere.
I loved this game so much back in the day, but I never finished it. This is something I would love the opportunity to correct. One of my absolute favorites of all time. Such great memories. This game absolutely needs a remake as well, but I really want a playable version of the original.
Zoo Tycoon: Complete CollectionAn insidiously addictive simulation game, Zoo Tycoon allows players to create their own zoo, but not just any zoo. It's completely free-form: Start with fences for your exhibits, then pick animals and give them toys, foliage, and anything else you want. For your customers, you can lay down paths to lead them around, then add food stands, amusement rides, even maps and trash cans. Not sure what you need? The zoo advisors will tell you how to make the animals happy, and the customers themselves will tell you what they're looking for, be it snacks, more animals, or anything else. There's also a vast amount of background information on each critter--its diet, its habitat, etc.--which can be useful when you're adding a macrauchenia or a Loch Ness Monster. In all, you can choose over 100 animals, plus countless habitat and park embellishments.
Heavy Gear IIAs the leader of the special ops group Dark Talons, lead your squad mates on a series of dangerous missions as you discover the NEC plot against your homeland, Terra Nova. Operate behind enemy lines as you gather data, attack enemy camps, capture enemy leaders, take over space stations, and more. Combat happens on land, underground (huge caverns), and even in space. There are plenty of weapons to outfit your gear, even some hand-to-hand weapons. You can also add perks and flaws to further customize your gear. Stealth is a major concern in some missions. The game play feel is very different from the Mechwarrior series.
Set in Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear universe (it actually rivals the Battletech universe in complexity, though not nearly as famous), this game requires 3D accelerator with its "Dark" 3D engine. The gears are capable of very human-like movements, such as kneeling, crawling, and jumping.Action Science fiction
Mega Man Battle Network 3 WhiteUsing an RPG style, you must guide Mega Man through various levels defeating enemies along the way and collecting the various chips to upgrade Mega Man's weapons and other items.
Exclusive to this, the White Version, are specialy developed chips (Giga Class chips) that only the White Version of Mega Man can use. You can also trade various chips between players using either Blue or White versions of BN3. Players assume control of a daimyo (leader) of a contemporary Japanese clan and attempt to conquer the nation and claim the title of supreme Shogun, the undisputed military ruler of Japan. The gameplay consist of two parts – a turn-based Risk-style mode on a 2D campaign map of Japan where the player must recruit, manage and move their armies, conduct diplomacy, trade, espionage, sabotage and assassinations.
This 2D map however ultimately serves to provide context for the 3D real-time battles that make up the main part of the game and occur whenever your army crosses into enemy territory or two opposing forces meet on the campaign map.Historical Warfare
The Lord of the Rings: The Third AgeThe Lord of the Rings:The Third Age introduces entirely new characters which aren't mentioned in the books or movies. The game does relate to the movies by including scenes from all three movies, with new background speech by Ian McKellen (Gandalf).
There are seven playable characters in the game which have been created specifically for it, as well a small appearances by characters such as Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn, Faramir, and Gothmog.
The game covers events in all three movies/books, mostly with references to major events shown through cut scenes, or the scenes from the movies with Ian McKellan's narration.

Battles are part turn based and part real-time. The player inputs their actions at the beginning of the turn. The amount of actions they can input is dependant on their type of TS.
