Space Hulk: Tactics

Space Hulk: Tactics (2018)

by Cyanide Studio, Focus Entertainment
Genres:Strategy, Turn-based strategy (TBS), Simulator, Card & Board Game
Themes:Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:"Bringing a unique twist to the classic gameplay of the cult board game, engage in bloody battles through an immense Space Hulk - a twisted mass of asteroids, wrecked ships and debris – as either a squad of Terminator Space Marines or the deadly alien Genestealers. Which side will you choose? Battle through two distinct, narrative-driven campaigns, from the points of view of two different factions: one campaign puts you in control of a Blood Angels squad, which you will customise and upgrade as you progress, while the other puts you in control of the Genestealers for the first time in a Space Hulk game! Space Hulk: Tactics is based on the rules of the popular board game, given a fresh new spin in the form of the unique Card system. Cards give more ways to customize your squad before a match, and allow you to turn the tides of battle with abilities that trigger game-changing effects when used at the right moment. Test your skills against other players in the expansive online competitive multiplayer, letting you command a swarm of Genestealers or a custom squad of different unit types from one of four Space Marine Chapters – the Blood Angels, the Space Wolves, the Ultramarines, and the Dark Angels. Multiplayer modes and tools offer a rich and deep online experience, and include an intuitive map creation tool, which gives players everything they need to create original maps with custom objective, and share them with other players to play either online or against the AI, all from within the game!"Show more

I played the board game with the ensamblable tiles as a child, and this version is probably the most polished one. It maintains the taste of the original while featuring great graphics and animations.

I would like to see Space Hulk Tactics here on GOG. I thought it would have been included when Deathwing was released here back in 2018. For me, Space Hulk Tactics was the better game of the two by quite some margin. An Excellent Turned Based Strategy game where you can either play as the Space Marines or Genestealers, with each of the two campaigns playing very differently from one another. I did manage to complete both campaigns back in the day on console. Being a fan, I even created a 5 map campaign which I would like to bring to the PC Version of the game. The game is currently available on Steam for those who want to try it out, but I would prefer a DRM-Free version of the game. I suppose, this is not really a dreamlist story, but more of a love letter from a fan wishing for the game to be made available for all GOG users. I do hope to see it here in the future, as I would definitely like to fire this one back up again. A Fabulous game, which I would highly recommend for strategy fans.

Carnivores 2
Carnivores 2Carnivores 2 is a first-person hunting game, in which the player's quarry is various species of dinosaur. A sequel to Carnivores, it expands on the original with new maps, new dinos, and new weapons, as well as improved audio and visuals. The game features 15 species of dinosaur (9 huntable), 6 weapons, 5 maps, and 6 equipment options to suit various styles of play. In a departure from the first game's ranking system, Carnivores 2 awards points for successful hunts based on equipment and species, with which the player may purchase higher-valued weapons and species for subsequent hunts. The game also features a trophy room, where the players most recent kills are displayed with recorded stats, and an observer mode, where players can explore each map and learn how each dinosaur behaves without fear. The game was originally developed by Action Forms, published by WizardWorks Software, and released in 1999 for Windows.

Lost Odyssey
Lost OdysseyLost Odyssey is set in a world in which a "Magic-Industrial Revolution" is taking place. While magic energy existed in all living creatures beforehand, it suddenly became far more powerful thirty years before the beginning of the game. Because of this, it has affected society greatly, with devices called "Magic Engines" harnessing this power for lighting, automobiles, communication, and robots, among other uses. While previously only a select few could wield magic, many magicians gained the ability. However, such progress has also caused two nations to develop new and more powerful weapons of mass destruction. The kingdom of Gohtza and the Republic of Uhra (which recently converted from a monarchy). Uhra is building Grand Staff, a gigantic magic engine, while the heavily industrialized Gohtza actively pursues magic research of their own. A third nation, the Free Ocean State of Numara, remains isolated and neutral, though it is falling into disarray due to a general attempting to stage a coup d'etat. Uhra, at war with Khent, a nation of beastmen, sends its forces to the Highlands of Wohl for a decisive battle at the start of the game.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Farland Story: Shirogane no Tsubasa
Farland Story: Shirogane no TsubasaChronologically the fourth Farland Story game, "Shirogane no Tsubasa" makes a fresh start story-wise, bring the first Farland Story not to deal with the hero Arc and his friends. In this game, you follow the destiny of a rebel group, who had to flee from the evil despot Pepper. Led by the cat-man Darland and the fugitive Phir, the rebels must overcome all possible obstacles in order to put an end to the evil reign and to restore peace in the land. Although the game has a different story, it still looks and plays more or less the same way as the first three Farland Story games. The game consists of strategic battles, during which you navigate your party members in turn-based mode over the map, attacking enemies when they are in range, and casting spells. Various type of terrain influences your attacks. For example, if you position your character on a square with a castle, his/her HP will be healed.
