Star Wars: DroidWorks

Star Wars: DroidWorks (1998)

by Lucas Learning
Genres:Quiz/Trivia
Themes:Educational
Story:Star Wars: DroidWorks is a 1998 edutainment computer game and the premiere title from LucasArts subsidiary Lucas Learning. It uses the same engine as LucasArts' previous title Star Wars: Jedi Knight. The creators aimed to create a game that would be both appealing and nonviolent. The game's original release date was moved up by months, which resulted in the development team cutting some planned game features. The game's plot involves the player saving the galaxy by manufacturing droids with specific abilities, such as the ability to see in the dark or jump, to complete missions. The educational portions of these missions teach players about concepts such as energy, force, motion, simple machines, light, and magnetism. Star Wars: DroidWorks received high praise from critics, sold well, and won numerous awards and accolades.Show more

Why would a GOG release be sweet? Because even if you get it to run on modern systems now, the game was actually tied to the old processor speed it ran on, and this causes a bug on modern systems that make the game essentially unplayable. A GOG release could solve this. Its a fun and quirky game. Would be nice to see it preserved.

Making different robots was always super fun, solving puzzles was rewarding. I played with my older brother, probably part of why we later would play through Myst III. I usually would watch but I definitely spent a good chunk of time playing through Droidworks. It's not convenient to try to buy and play this game these days, so it'd be great to revisit it through GOG.

Still having the CD, I have fond memories of playing this on my Dad's work laptop as a kid. I love the customisability and fun i had with it. I haven't replayed it for many years and would love a GOG release so that it will run smoothly rather than having to troubleshoot the disc version.
I have so many memories playing this with friends from school and my brother. We would spend hours just making droids and just reading up about the different parts. We loved the different voices that the different heads could have. Truly a gem from a simpler time. My stepdad is an engineer and id often ask about the different physics puzzles. Please add this game.
when i was about 8 is when this game came out i remember always going into my parents room to play it on the computer in the days of net 10 dial up internet but my cousin, my late younger brother and best friend and i would take turns and we just had a really good time al around

I remember trying when I was about 12 years old, specifically I always wanted to play as a star wars droid and found this game, it was a great experience creating and exploring taooine with several robots, a unique mechanic not included on other star wars games before. I would love to try again

Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-KazooieA bear named Banjo needs the help of his loyal friend Kazooie, a red feathered bird, to rescue his sister Tooty from a witch named Gruntilda. Gruntilda has created a machine that transfers one person's level of beauty to another, and plans to use it on Tooty, so she can steal her youthful good looks. Tooty is hidden within Gruntilda's lair, a strange collection of rooms that contain portals to mysterious environments, where new landscapes, new friends, and new foes are encountered. The layer contains magical doors that seal off certain rooms, stopping Banjo and Kazooie from finding Tooty. In order to open these doors, Banjo and Kazooie need to collect mysterious objects called notes, which exist within the mysterious environments. Collecting enough of these notes will give them the power to open the magical doors. In order to open a portal to a new environment, a jigsaw containing a picture of the environment has to be finished. Golden Jigsaw pieces are located within previously visited worlds, and can fit any unfinished jigsaw. The game is often described as being similar to Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong Country, as well as sharing a few similarities with The Legend of Zelda series.
