A one of a kind strategy game, impossible to even compare it to anything else. It is objective based and you slowly progress throughout the entire map of each mission while the story unfolds around you. The biggest highlight is the defense sections in each mission, where you are given a bit of time to prepare and you have to defend yourself against overwhelming hordes of enemies which is usually only possible by making good use of the terrain and the fortifications available. Overall, watching those big battles is just a treat on the eyes. Can't recommend this game enough.
An extremely unorthodox RTS with an almost pulp sci-fi sort of aesthetic. The gameplay bounces between completely different types of strategy, sometimes there are huge, fast-paced battles that are a real blast to watch and at other times it places so much emphasis on ambushing and counter-ambushing your enemies that it almost plays... more like a stealth game than anything else? The best part in my opinion is the story and characters. It's peak cheesy Euro sci-fi, that reminds me of the insanity of some French comic books I've read (fitting since the developers were French) in a good way. The various characters are quite charming and the script features so much absurd dialogue delivered totally straight, it's amazing! Pragmatically speaking, I want this game on GOG because it's impossible to get it working on a modern PC without some decent technical know-how, and if you're anything like me considerable trial and error. I have heard horror stories of people curious about this game giving up on trying it because just launching it for the first time was too hard, and after all I had to go through to successfully play it myself, I honestly can't blame them. If those barriers to entry were removed, a lot more people would be able to experience it!
Whoever remembers this Game, find me on Discord and lets Bring it back to Life together, Hell... Let's Remaster even Remake it! This Game was way ahead of it's Time. As If someone from 2025 Traveled back 25 years to make it. This game was Awesome before Awesome became Awesome.

Disgaea PC
Disgaea PCA version of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, including the added content in Afternoon of Darkness, was released for Microsoft Windows via Steam on February 24, 2016, retitled as Disgaea PC. The initial release was panned by critics on launch due to its many bugs, which included persistent crashes, save file loss, and poor performance, even on high-end PCs. A patch was released soon afterwards that fixed many of the bugs. Another patch was released for the game later that added the four characters previously exclusive to Disgaea DS. Players who bought the game during the 2016 Steam Summer Sale would also earn free in-game cosmetic items for Valve’s first person shooter game Team Fortress 2.
