I played Zettai Hero Project and liked the mechanics and then I played Guided Fate Paradox. The hunger, in my opinion, was fixed either by losing less or having more enemies drop food more often. In addition the equipment degradation was replaced with the burst mechanic, which made them stronger as you go on the dungeons. Both of this changes made this game better and enjoyable for me. Although the story in Guided Fate Paradox was weaker than the one in Zettai Hero Proyect I still liked it.
I was sad to see the sequel, Awakening Fate Ultimatum, simplify the mechanics a lot, especially by removing the equipment slots and only leaving the weapon-shield-relic that is usual in other mystery dungeon style games (the Shiren series, Touhou Genso Wanderer, etc.). Very few games have mechanics similar to ZHP or Guided Fate Paradox and wished that Guided Fate Paradox was available elsewhere. I know the game has its flaws (speed boosts are all but useless and finishing the game inmediately restarts the playthrough) but still had a very good time messing around with my equipment and looking for stronger versions in the extra dungeons. I would like to see it become availble and preserved in GOG because it is different than other roguelikes out there and fun on its own merits (in my opinion).
