I have great memories of this game . The Oregon Trail third edition is the best in the series in my opinion. planning out what supplies to bring on the trip at the beginning of the game sets the tone. The VMF scenes are fun and the music is pleasant. The mini games like hunting and fishing were actually fun and we’re looked forward to. but be careful how you shoot the skunk you could get sprayed and end your food gathering trip!!
While I was familiar with the series outside of this one from playing at a friend's and school, this was the edition my family had when my parents purchased a slew of edutainment games with our first family computer. The community theater acting in this one is a real blast, and I have so many fond memories of spending hours try my damndest to make it to Oregon with the folks I grew attached with. Great game.
This was one of the first games that I got as a kid. I remember picking it out based on the box art, taking it home, and being completely engrossed in the manual and FMV characters. There is a lot of nostalgia here.
I still have my disks but sadly modern windows cannot seem to run them. Maybe one day I'll install Linux and try to setup a windows 98 emulator to play them again :)
