Tonic Trouble

Tonic Trouble (1999)

Genres:Adventure, Platform
Themes:Action, Comedy
Game modes:Single player
Story:Tonic Trouble is a 3D platforming video game by Ubisoft Montreal. The story follows the main character, Ed, after a magic potion spills on the Earth and causes vegetables to become living killers. The game was received poorly; critics cite poor controls, a wordy exposition, and sloppy graphics (on the N64 version). The N64 version of the game is a port of the PC version with noticeable differences, such as a substantially different opening due to the lack of processing power needed to render cutscenes, and different music in certain places. The game is often compared to another game published by Ubisoft called Rayman 2: The Great Escape, because both are 3D platformers, both have main characters of a similar design (hands and feet without arms or legs), and both were released around the same time.Show more

This game rules. Often seen as an 'inferior Rayman 2', it's actually a very nice little platformer that feels like a blend of Rayman 1 and 2's vibes, but with more focus on wacky puzzles. Definitely worth preserving!

Tonic Trouble is truly a fascinating game! It's a fun and simple platformer with TONS of charm. I love the characters, the world and the story.(Especially the PC version!) More people should check out this game. Especially if you're a Rayman fan!

A madcap adventure that, truth be told, I was never even able to finish! I was stuck for so long on the sledding, then stuck for so long in the Vegetable HQ, and then found this perfect groove that saw kid me making it as far as the final world. Before once again getting stuck, and foolishly loaning the game to a friend. My copy is gone forever, and sure wouldn't play on a new PC anyway. The world needs to remember this game. It's bonkers and sticks with you even if you never saw the end credits.
While I may not be as familiar with Tonic Trouble as I am with Rayman, I believe this underrated gem deserves to be played by more people and it would be great to experience this classic that basically acted more or less as the blueprint for Rayman 2.

Loved this game, I'd sure like to get it onto my gog shelf! It's like more wacky, self aware Rayman 2. And R2 is my favourite game of all time, so what's not to like in Tonic Trouble?

Used to play this as a kid, version from Cool Games, i must have rented it to some classmate in primary school, never to be found again, please bring this back ^.^
I still have the original physical disc from this game and on todays PC i can't even run it :/ Please make it possible to play it again! it's a shame that this was never ported to modern systems+ the old Rayman games...

Jet-Boot Jack
Jet-Boot JackMusic notes have escaped throughout the world, and Jet-Boot Jack must collect them up. There are ten levels, the first five of which can be played from the main menu. Gameplay is platform-based, and largely involves progressing down the levels, using holes and moving platforms. Enemies hover over the holes, but these can be disabled by toggling the right switches. There are also timing-based hazards such as arrows emerging from walls and lazer beams - contact with any of these costs one of your five lives. You also lose a life if you run out of energy. Some levels vary the format by requiring you to simply collect every note on a single screen, which has regeneration points and one-way platforms.

Sonic 3D Blast 5
Sonic 3D Blast 5Sonic 3D Blast 5 is a platform game developed by Makon Soft for Nintendo's Game Boy. The exact release date is unknown. However, it's believed to have been released at some point after 1997, due to it having remixes of music from the Sonic & Knuckles Collection for PC/from the Sonic 3 prototype. The gameplay is very similar to Makon Soft's other platformers, using an almost identical engine to those games. However, it has since gained notoriety for its poor quality.

Super Cauldron
Super CauldronCauldron and Cauldron II were successful in the 8-bit days, and this moved the series forward. You play a witch (although the character looks decidedly masculine, for no apparent reason), and have to negotiate four worlds, each split into bite-size chunks. The levels are populated with bats, trolls and snakes, which have programmed attack patterns and follow you off the screen. You can collect and cast up to 12 spells, which are accessed using the cursor or function keys (the manual amusingly refers to Amigas having F11 and F12 keys, which they don't). These include upgraded weapons (the default one isn't especially powerful), and help such as magic staircases and a metal melter. Some sections of water kill you, other identical ones take you to different sections.
