Story:Set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of the 1930s, Valkyria Chronicles depicts Europe divided in two and ruled by two super powers: the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, situated in the middle of the two superpowers territories, in an attempt to secure invaluable natural resources. Within this struggle a hero named Welkin, and his fellow soldiers of the Federation's 7th Platoon, are fighting back against the invasion and the Empires attempts to unify the continent under its power. During the ensuing war the Federation discovers that the Empire possesses a secret weapon, known as the "Valkyria" - an ancient race with special powers thought to exist only in legends. With this new discovery the fate of the Federation's ability to turn the tide of the war, and the hope for a better future, hang in the balance. “CANVAS” graphics engine: A unique engine that produces breath taking images that look like watercolour paintings in motion. “BLiTZ” tactical battle system: Experience strategic manoeuvring of units combined with conventional RPG gameplay, all layered on top of the moment to moment action afforded by real-time controls as players command each squad member and tank in battle. Epic storyline: Players will immerse themselves in the epic struggle for freedom, as the fate of the world lies in the hands of Welkin and the members of the 7th platoon. Customisation: Over 100 customisable characters allow players to create a variety of platoons to suit each battle’s needs. Beautifully rendered battlefields: Players explore 30 different environments, using unique terrain features to gain advantages in battle.Show more

The first of a series of Valkyria Chronicles games published by Sega. A fantasy strategy combat simulation for the Playstation 3. Control a squad lead by a single tank supported by mixed WWII style infantry in a campaign to resist an invasion. Start out with only a few members but slowly swell your ranks, levelling them up and learning new skills and classes and gain resources and upgrades for your tank. Beautifully animated 3D models and a fairly amount of anime-style war drama, which include the super-powered Valkyria, basically walking laser cannons. The enemy starts with one of these, complicating your efforts, but you eventually find one on your side as well. Fairly fun. Most of the action is in your rank and file infantry members though. They learn new skills and traits, both positive and negative and come in various classes with strengths and weaknesses like the fast moving and highly accurate but low endurance scout to the tanky and deadly machine gun toting shocktrooper to the medic who heals and recovers the fallen and the lancer, basically a bazooka toting anti-tank unit. Permadeath is a thing. Managing team mixes and promoting them to better versions of themselves is the key to victory. Along with managing choke points, dealing with pillboxes, capturing enemy spawn points and conquering the map, or surviving a tactical retreat. Your one tank is mainly emergency support and mobile cover, with limited ammo, and the Valkyria are usually something like a saved super power to be used sparingly for plot purposes. Fairly fun. The sequels add more and more features, classes and drama to the mix. 2 and 3 were on the Playstation Portable while the 4th most recent entry was on the Playstation 4. I believe this particular game won some kind of Guinness World Record at one point, but 3 was my particular favorite. Lots of drama, politics involving historical and racial prejudices, etc. Beautiful character designs that still pop up in character shops today.

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's DungeonRandomly generated dungeons and turn-based battles are highlighted in the second Wii title set in the Final Fantasy universe. A yellow, bird-like Chocobo migrates from a successful stint on the DS handheld to console in this exclusive release, featuring the distinctive artwork of Toshiyuki Itahana (Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales). You must retrieve, of all things, lost "memories" by delving into dungeons created by a mysterious lad named Raffaello. Succeed and the town's populace just might remember who and where they are. In true Final Fantasy tradition, your Chocobo character can specialize in ten different job classes, ranging from a knight to a white mage, allowing him access to special powers and abilities in combat. In between dungeon treks, you can visit shops in town to purchase helpful items and equipment. Other features include online card duels via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, hidden dungeons and job classes unlocked by finding assorted letters, and arcade-style mini-games accessed from the Mog House. The latter includes such motion-driven activities as gardening, fishing, and darts.

Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VFinal Fantasy V is a fantasy role-playing video game developed and published by Square in 1992 as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game first appeared only in Japan on Nintendo's Super Famicom (known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System). It has been ported with minor differences to Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. An original video animation produced in 1994 called FINAL FANTASY: Legend of the Crystals serves as a sequel to the events depicted in the game. It was released for the PlayStation Network on April 6, 2011, in Japan. An enhanced port of the game, with new high-resolution graphics and a touch-based interface, was released for iPhone and iPad on March 28, 2013, and for Android on September 25, 2013. FINAL FANTASY V has been praised for the freedom of customization that the player has over the characters, achieved through the greatly expanded Job System. Despite being released only in Japan, the Super Famicom version sold more than two million copies. The PlayStation version has earned "Greatest Hits" status, selling more than 350,000 copies.
