One of the best candiate for the 'Man I wish it got a sequel' mention. Nothing plays like it. A cover-based shooter that pushes you to stay out of cover as much as possible. It was so bold to release during the cover-shooter craze. It is such a shame that Vanquish and Platinum Games did not get the recognition they deserve. This game is both innotivative and brilliant and should have been in the video game zeitgeist during its release for being the shot to the arm the genre and the times needed.
Vanquish is the game I always reference anytime the idea of a game's worth being tied to its length is brought up. Yes, Vanquish is brief, and you can probably roll credits within 4 or 5 hours on a first playthrough, but those are some of the most action-packed and intense hours you'll spend with a game. The pacing is amazing and nothing overstays its welcome. It won't take you long to beat, but give me a game I'd like to play over and over again any day simply because it's that fun.
This is a true Classic, one you can replay every year and still feel the thrill and amazing game design.
It deserves a GOG release since it is entirely single player and has been out there long enough to make it‘s debut for the fans on this platform!
