Story:Wild Arms 2 is not a direct sequel to the first Wild Arms, although it is set in the same fictional world Filgaia, which combines elements of Old West, steampunk, and fantasy. The turn-based combat system against randomly appearing enemies resembles that of the predecessor, featuring techniques unique to each character, as well as the Guardian system, which allows the characters to summon powerful creatures to assist them in battles. I purchased this for my Sony PSP shortly before the PlayStation store closed forever for the console. It has a great soundtrack and impressive PSX graphics. I can also play is on my PS3 but, having the ability to play this officially on PC would be amazing!
This game opened countless doors for me—it introduced me to the world of RPGs on consoles, sparked my passion for the Japanese language, and even led me to anime. I remember sitting on the living room floor, playing for hours and hours, having almost no idea what was going on because my copy of the game was entirely in Japanese. And yet, I got incredibly far—nearly finishing it, even completing optional quests!
Back then, the internet was barely a part of our daily lives. It was all trial and error, gut feeling, and deduction. But even so, I fell in love with this game. To this day, I find myself drawn to certain features in modern games—features that Wild ARMs 2nd Ignition rooted in me: environmental interaction, puzzle-solving that requires each character’s unique abilities, and the feeling of a living, breathing world.
And that's exactly why this game can't be allowed to fade away with time or be buried by the march of technology. It’s more than just nostalgia—it’s a meaningful, formative experience. More people deserve the chance to fall in love with the magic that Wild ARMs 2nd Ignition uniquely offers.

The player controls Caim on his quest. The game is separated into three distinct modes: Aerial combat, Ground combat and Event Combat. In Aerial Combat, Caim rides dragonback against a variety of airborne foes breathing fireballs (strong single shots and weaker multiple lock-on shots). The Dragon is agile and is able to evade incoming threats, turning around completely in a moment. In Ground combat, the game is shown in 3rd person though usually large, open areas. Controlling Caim, his primary ability is the use of a variety of weapons found on the battlefield. These are leveled up through continued usage, and specifically through the killing of individual enemies. Though magic (determined by weapon choice), timed attacks and evasion, Caim breaks through enemy armies. Characters recruited as allies by Caim can also be summoned during battles, steadily losing health until control is returned to Caim. In ground combat, Caim may also call forth his Dragon to ride and strafe enemies from the air. The Dragon's movements are generally the same as in aerial combat but more limited and less agile. Event combat is similar to Ground combat, but shown isometrically, restricted to a single weapon and without the aid of a dragon. It is used mainly to tell story sequences.
Levels that have been visited before might become "Expedition Missions" which are optional and contain new objectives, enemies and weapons. Additionally, any level previously played in the storyline may be revisited at any time. ViColumnViColumn is, as one might guess, a re-implementation of SEGA's Columns for the VIC-20, released in 2005. Blocks of three vertically arranged colours, out of a pallette of four, come dropping down from above, and must be placed on the bottom or on top of another block. By pressing fire, you can rotate the colours inside the block so as to fit in with the colours of other blocks already placed on the screen. If three or more adjacent blocks have the same colour on a row or column, that colour block is eliminated, making room for more blocks. Carefully laying down the blocks can lead to chain reactions. Unlike the original Columns, though, this implementation does not recognise diagonal colour combinations.New
