Story:Formula 1 Grand Prix (known as World Circuit in the US) is the first installment of Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series. The game includes all 16 international GP circuits of 1991. Players may drive them in quick race mode, single race or a full championship. The 18 teams and 35 drivers and their performance are based on the 1991 season, but the game doesn't include real names. It is possible to edit and save team and driver names by hand. The extensive tuning feature influences the performance of the car. In-race setup allows players to adjust gear ratios, brake balance, wing downforce and tires during each visit to the pit box. Six optional driving aids help F1 rookies finish their race: players can toggle best line and suggested gear displays to learn track tactics, or have auto brakes, auto gears, self-righting spins and indestructibility to improve their driving. A replay system allows players to watch race scenes from three different views, including track-side camera footage. The game features 3D graphics and various details and effects such as working rear mirrors, collisions with flying debris, crude damage models (wings are visibly bent after crashes), and wet weather that influences traction, including a fog effect that obscures vision when driving in another car's splash water. While the Amiga version allows multiplayer races in hotseat mode, the PC version originally had solo races only. In 1993, the v1.05 update added modem support and a few other improvements.Show more

This is one of my all-time favourite games. So complete and yet so simple. You have the main car setup options for an F1 of the early 90s, and every variable does something sensible and noticeable to the car's behaviour. I've played endless seasons, promoting myself to better teams as I got better (one unrealistic aspect of the game is that you can be equally fast on any car, provided you get the setup right and get good), only leaving the top 2 teams alone so they provide strong competition. My memories of this game made it hard for me to play other racing games: while the graphics and some physics improved, they all seemed so arcade-y in comparison. Even if in a crude manner, this game had every important aspect of driving an F1 car already there as a game mechanic. I think the only game to surpass it was its sequel. I have played it on DOSBox decades later, but something is off, like I'm easily 4 seconds faster than everyone - and I don't think I got better by aging and not playing the game! So I hope a proper port can fix it, or maybe some careful emulator configuration.

007 Racing
007 RacingIn 007 Racing you can get behind the wheel of James Bond's car. You must complete missions which range from collecting an object and getting out alive, to much harder and more complicated things. Your car is armed with many weapons including mines, rockets, lasers, smokescreens, and more. Then, if you get bored playing alone, you can eliminate your opponent in multiplayer missions where you have to destroy the other car, or a game mode called "Pass the Bomb", where you must pass the bomb to the other car by touching it before you blow up.

TOCA Championship Racing
TOCA Championship RacingFight the pack to gain position without losing control of your car as you race on nine different original tracks of the British Touring Car Championships. This game features eight different game modes, such as single race, championship, time trial, and party play. More commonly known as TOCA Touring Car Championship, the first game of the series was released for the PC and PlayStation platforms in late 1997 in Europe, and in summer 1998 in the United States. Featuring all the licensed cars (not including privateers) and tracks from the 1997 British Touring Car Championship, the game was critically acclaimed by the European games press - especially on console where it was widely considered the best in its genre until the release of Gran Turismo several months later.

Need for Speed: Underground 2
Need for Speed: Underground 2Need For Speed Underground 2 takes place in Bayview after the events of Need for Speed: Underground. The prologue begins with the player driving in a Nissan Skyline R34 in Olympic City (though the racing scenes are actually in Bayview), the setting of NFS:UG. He then receives a race challenge from a rather ominous personality who offers him a spot on his crew, but "won't take 'no' for an answer." The player races off — despite Samantha's warnings — only to be ambushed by a mysterious driver in a rage that totals his Skyline. The driver, who has a unique scythe tattoo, makes a call confirming the accident, and the flashback fades out.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
Pro Evolution Soccer 2009Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (often shortened to PES 2009, or simply PES 09) is the latest game in the series after its release in Autumn 2008. Before the game was released it was revealed that creator Shingo Takatsuka had given the game a complete overhaul following the serious criticism of the previous title. One of the first screenshots of PES 2009 displaying the improved graphics The game supports network play with a reduction in lag compared to PES 2008 although there are still many criticisms as it is far from lag-free. Lionel Messi is featured as the cover although Andres Guardado features on some versions. A new game mode called Become A Legend has been brought in which involves creating a player and taking him through a career. The Master League mode now has two-tier negotiations which involve negotiating with the club first and then the player separately. Also the edit mode was notably improved with badges and kits now being as intuitive as they were on PS2 versions. Although the game is generally viewed as an improvement, the Online Mode and the omission of players such as Danny Alves, Tomas Zapotocny and Walter Lopez drew plenty of criticism. The game will be followed by PES 2010.

Jet Set Radio HD
Jet Set Radio HDJet Set Radio HD is the latest remaster in a string of Dreamcast "hits" to see new life on download platforms, but Sega has been insistent that they've learned its lessons. The publisher has emphasized how hard it's trying to get things right this time, and for many, it couldn't have chosen a better game. Jet Set Radio was part of Sega's onslaught of new properties with an emphasis on flash and style during the second wave of Dreamcast software, but it might be one of the more obscure. It's a game that almost everyone has heard of, but I think few have actually played. This was remedied somewhat with 2002's Xbox sequel Jet Set Radio Future. Unlike Sonic Adventure or the arcade hit Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio HD is the chance for many to finally play a game they've only heard about. Nostalgia has the side effect of high expectations though, and Jet Set Radio HD just can't meet them. While the flash and style of Jet Set Radio HD remains untouched and unvarnished by a dozen years of progress, the rest of it can't stand up to scrutiny. Squirrely controls, camera catastrophes, and nonsensical level design make Jet Set Radio HD a better memory than game.
