Shadowsetzer: As for killing Drizzt, it has no impact on the rest of the game...
If I remember correctly, if you kill Drizzt then a little later on (it might be in BG2 if you import your character but I'm not sure) his party members turn up to fight you.
I never quite got the fun of killing Drizzit. If its for loot just save, use a potion of thievery and pick pocket. If its the exp, its not like you really need it if you do most of the game. If its just for the challenge... I agree with on of the above posters who said summon little monsters and range attack.

It's just the pure joy of... killing Drizzt.

Fair enough.
Looks good. I'd say any reasonably balanced group can make it through fine. Just run with the characters you enjoy having around provided the basics are covered.

That said, for the infinity engine games I generally like to run parties that focus on physical damage.

I like a fighter/thief designed to handle traps and locks plus two divine casters (clerics or druids; one of them a pure cleric and the other a multi-class) for buffing and healing plus a bit of fighting power. Throw in a mage for buffing and crowd control spells and then round it out with two warrior types (fighters, rangers, paladin). I listed Kivan and Ajantis, but, plenty of other options exist in this department .

One "good natured" party I enjoyed recently (not necessarily "best" or "optimal" :

Main character FTR/thief
Yeslick FTR/CLR (use a substitute until you get him later)
Branwen CLR
Imoen dualed to mage
Ajantis Paladin
Kivan Ranger

You could dump Yesslick and Ajantis and run with Jaheira and Khalid instead and there's always more options too. Enjoy.

Still haven't entered the mines yet. Last save said I was on my 94th day. I've been exploring all the wilderness and the gnoll stronghold and all that jazz. I think all my characters are at level 5 now. Oh I got my party together.

Alderack
Imoen
Branwen
Minsc
Kivan
Dynaheir

I killed Drizzt at level 3. I put four NPC's around him and then removed them from the party. Picked up a few of the halberd's that the gnolls dropped and planted my main character behind one of the NPC's and let him hack away at Drizzt for like 30 minutes. The only way to hit him was with a roll of 20. Awesome loot!

One more thing. For some reason I can't use my identify spell. I've selected them to be memorized, went to sleep and tried to use it on a couple of unidentified weapons. It won't identify them though. I have three slots with the identify spell memorized. It was working up until a little while ago.

He turns up again in BG2, regardless of whether you killed him or not; if you killed him, he'll be pissed, but you can still talk your way out of a fight. By that point, though, there's no reason your party can't take his.
this play through im using muliple parties.. basically im gonna use most of the NPC's and do certain quests with them. as long as you avoid talking to NPC till later then will lvl up to your lvl, and adding them to your party isnt to bad.

i plan on taking misnic and edwin for the stronghold, But im gonna do that later,.. garrek, and the evil bard are gonna come with me through cloakwood.. (then to find the girl) I think i wanna bring Alora to durlags, and maybe shar and kagain too,.. Jaheria is gonna go all the way to the end along with imeon, but i still havent decided on the others.. Im sure kalied is gonna wind up disingrating at some point..

Im playing such a do gooder now, im waiting for xzar and monty to just explode.. they have been quite unhappy sence they joined me.. . they didnt like me donating all the processed from the diamond to the church.. (rep 16) day 7.. i just entered nashkel.. ready to visit the carnival.. ahh this brings back good memories.

Party, xzar, Monty, jaheria, kalied, imoen, Me Human fighter, planed to dual class at 12 in BG II for jaheria romance : )
