For me being Scottish, Halloween and all it's past forms has always been a big thing since before records began. It's a big thing, but has changed horrifically in the past 20-25 years. The whole thing has become Americanised. It's now all about selling things and making money. It was a bit more serious when I was a kid and could be quite creepy for a child. Now I see kids dressed as princesses and comic book heroes. It's a joke. Guising was supposed to be about scaring the spirits of the dead away, not make them laugh.
I don't get the adult thing either. It was just for kids but now it's also about getting drunk whilst being dressed up. A lot of the time they don't even dress up in anything spooky like in America. It just a fancy dress party. I hate what the U.S has done to the day...note I said day. In the U.S they talk about it for the whole of October! WTF.
So no, I don't like what Halloween has become or care about it.
