Pheace: This is so far from the image I had of crossplay after GOG's portrayal of it that this honestly feels shocking to me.

What *is* crossplay then if it's not interconnectivity between users who buy Steam/Steamworks and users who buy GOG/Galaxy?

amok: Yeah, thats exactly as expected. "crossplay is basically the same as game-spy - but with Galaxy servers. so uptake depends on developers wanting to swap over to the new framework, which will take some time considering the alpha/beta stage of Galaxy, and the popularity of existing services.

It was never a "magic" system able to "talk" with for example Steamworks, to do so would require full access to the Steam API... + any other frameworks out there.

paladin181: Wait... when did GoG promise cross platform multiplayer? I know they said it would be an option going forward with the GoG Client (Also an unfinished product by the by) but they never promised this would be the norm. You're taking the promise of a feature being available as the promise that it will be implemented on everything, and they never promised that.

About 1:25 in the video, just after Freedom Of Choice (tm)....
Cross play enabled games... Never did they intimate that all multiplayer games would be cross play enabled. They never promised that yhes would be the norm, but rather that it would be available on some games used through the optional GOG Galaxy cclient.

I think people assumed it would be because a GOG locked multiplayer game is doomed from the start.

Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.
