ive seen many games where GOG has an outdated verion of it compared to steam, i think GOG should temporarily remove the game fro mthe store until the developers update there game then it will be re added to the store, im sick of devs thinking us GOG users will just sit by and take this.

why do devs treat steam like a superior platform giving it there all, when other platforms they decide to sell there games on get nothing, this needs fixing GOG otherwise your reputation will go down and we dnt want that i love GOG

gog should remove games if devs dnt update
No, they shouldn't...not unless they are also & simultaneously going to remove games that lack feature parity with Steam in other ways too, i.e. Achievements.

To remove un-updated games yet still leave up other-feature-parity-lacking games would be a double-standard whereby GOG staff would be cherrypicking which type of unequal/mistreatment of GOG customers is fine & dandy, and which is not. That would be wrong.

Either they need to stomp out all unequal/mistreatment of GOG customers, or else they should let it all stand. Cherrypicking one type of mistreatment to accept & ignore on their platform, and yet another type of mistreatment to reject and forbid on their platform..that is worse than them doing nothing about any of it, as it would be privileging some groups of GOG customers over others.

In other words, by way of doing that kind of action of removing un-updated games, yet also at the same time leaving other-feature-parity-lacking games up, that would be causing GOG staff to themselves start treating some GOG customers unequally to others.

I think the idea of releasing unfinished games is bad in general. Patches shouldn't be there at all times, they are supposed to be there mainly for online games and when a dev missed something during development. It seems now in days games get released knowing they have issues but know they can patch it later.

I agree GOG shouldn't do this but c'mon....achievements are a gimmicky fad and nothing more, and to call them akin to a major feature(to me) is utter nonsense.

(Disclaimer: I collect some achievements/etc as well, but I do not need them to enjoy games)

As I told Oldfatman(or guy) I would rather they sell such games with a disclaimer/warning in BOLD and clearly visible, so people can still buy but know what they are getting.

Heck, we already lose a TON of games due to bad curation(or vague and odd curation we are not good enough to be privy to)....why add non updated games to the mix as well?

I always wait for a game to be 100% finished before doing a purchase knowing I it will be the final product with all it's important updates. I guess what happened with Shantae half gene hero was something of a smart idea at the end. Giving us a full finished product instead of the base game with add-ons. but I do know how this can get frustrating. some things mentioned by users over time should be implemented on the store notifying users before purchase.

While it's disappointing they don't update, i think removing said games from the store is probably wrong. It would certainly cripple quite a few games on the list, and unless it's a vital update i doubt you'd really notice it.

In a perfect world, every store digital and real would carry all games, and 100% of the money goes to the devs.

Alas it's not so perfect. It's not so nice. There's Greedy SOB's, Greedy publishers, and greedy storefronts. There's even greedy and incompetent game devs (Digital Homicide anyone?).

The free market is the best self regulating tool. If the update is that important, the game will get less sales until it's updated. The fact one store gets updates and another doesn't means there's obvious favoritism, and that can't be helped. If 95% of the sales goes through steam, then 95% of their efforts should be on the steam version. Though i'd hope they just have a simple flag while they are compiling it to make it the non-steam version, or it doesn't REQUIRE steam and thus works anywhere.
While I'm occasionally peeved when a new game I'm actually interested in playing comes to GOG, only to discover it's lacking achievements, I would absolutely not want to have games removed from GOG just because they lack achievements. And my motive is simple, not all games need achievements to increase replayability.

For a narrative focused game(such as a RPG) it's downright distracting to get popups as you progress through the story. But for roguelikes, such as Slay the spire, the lack of achievements is utterly disappointing.

For example Dungeons of Dredmor(which I got DRM-free from HB), I played it once to get a feel for the mechanics, then on my second run I managed to finish the game, and I've never touched it since. I'm sure I missed out on a lot of gameplay content, but there's not even a modicum of a storyline, to have me want to experience the game again.
