Graymatter: If I buy one of the bundles and already have some of the games, do they give me keys/gifts that I can use to share those games?
Yes, if you own a game in the bundle, it will be a gift code for you to send to a friend/loved one/enemy.

Ixamyakxim: How you downloaded it yet? I know it's not ideal, but maybe if you haven't downloaded it yet you can get a refund and then buy it again?

If you HAVE D/Led it, you're out of luck - that's just the nature of a sale.
avatar
shortbynature: Well that sucks, yeah I downloaded it already.
I would recommend submitting a ticket to Support regardless. Perhaps something can be done about it :)
avatar
SirPrimalform: I think this is a detrimental change, I hope future sales go back to the old type of bundle where owned games are simply removed and the price of the bundle adjusted.
avatar
ReynardFox: This. Seriously.
Updates on the codes are coming tomorrow. Hopefully, this will clear things up and halt your repeated doomsaying posts for the night :)

ReynardFox: Oh, so now that I've bought these broken bundles and have superfluous codes, will I be able to get money back for them?

Also I won't stop "doomsaying" until GOG does something that isn't half-assed or out of touch that shows it isn't a site building up to a crash and burn.

One just needs to skim the plethora of negative comments about this terrible new site design to see that GOG needs to desperately take a few step backs and really evaluate what they're doing and who they're doing it for.
Updates will be fed later on today. You're welcome to ignore the post, again, but the info will still be posted.

PaterAlf: Is the update still coming today?
The codes have been switched from two weeks to two months.

hummer010: I still much prefer the bundles where I don't pay for the game I already own, and I don't get a key for the game I already own. I'd have already bought the Modern Classics bundle if this was the case.
You can always purchase the games on their own, two of the games are on respective sales.

Themken: A fortnight was good for those free bonus keys and such but this is a tad different.
That's why it's two months and not two weeks.

hummer010: Not the same price though. Kingdom Come is on sale for $57.59 CDN, which is more than the entire Modern Classics Bundle ($32.59 CDN). Shadow Tactics isn't on sale at all - not that it matters, this is the one I own.

Edit: It used to be, on GOG, when there was a bundle, if you already owned games in the bundle, you got credit for those owned games, and still got the full discount on the remaining games in the bundle.
That's not how it works I'm afraid. The bundle is amazing value, it's the cheapest Kingdom Come has been.
avatar
ReynardFox: You serious? You think 2 months is acceptable? I don't give a damn how good value you think the bundles are: Paid for game codes should. not. expire.

I never wanted this shitty expiring code for stuff I already owned, why the hell can't we just get credit like bundles used to do? Or the cost of owned items deducted from the bundle... You know, something that isn't blatantly anti-consumer?

Also telling people they can just buy the games separately when the solo prices are much higher than in the bundle? Well I'd probably get moderated for expressing how I feel about that little piece of advice.
Advising users on other options available is part of the job.

As for your closing comment, you won't be moderated, I don't even understand why you think that would be the case. Users who post within the rules will not be moderated.

Wurzelkraft: This is terrible and I have further questions:

1. Will this be the case for all new gift codes?

2. Will this format of not crediting owned games persist in all other regular sales?

3. Why do I now see "in library" and not "owned" on game pages of games I bought before?
1. No

2. No

3. We changed the wording

Update on the codes:

As mentioned in a previous post, the 2-month expiry date is not a permanent move. This is just a mechanic for the bundle sales for the 10 Years of GOG event. We've heard the frustrations and concerns and we've taken them all into account. We'll be looking to post some further updates later down the lines. But in summary -

The expiry dates on these bundles are not the new norm, it's purely for this event only given the price/games on offer.

krakataul: "Owned" was the wrong wording - you don't "own" games, you own the right to use them in accordance to EULA after you put them into your library. However, unlike (most) other stores that provide software, GOG doesn't restrict you in your use of games outside your GOG Library, and that is something that they don't intend to change, as far as I understand, based on their "FCK DRM" campaign, and recent interviews (Eurogamer)... After all, "DRM free" is still their main strength... (unlike web design, some would say ;) )
avatar
OldOldGamer: I own the damn right to use a game!
Doesn't matter!
I "own" whatever GOG sold me!
So, relative to GOG context, owning is the right word.

"In library" doesn't make sense either.
There is no library. Is damn collection of rights.

Anyway. I guess the "strong" point of this 10th whatever thing, was a fake vote where SW2 would have been given for free.
