I was acting like a dick though, so the response was pretty much in kind.

I didn't intend to act like a dick, but I see that I was. It was intended to be humorous, but the words were a bit too harsh for that and became dickish instead.

You said it was mentioned multiple times that the information was incorrect, yet you failed to post a single evidence.
You talk about lazyness, as if you wasn't being lazy right now, if there were as many posts that served as proof, how you was incapable of pressing ctrl + c and ctrl + v?
It's not the first time either, I've seen you doing this to other threads, you like being the know-it-all.
Next time, prepare some evidence before posting something as a fact, I know it's shocking, but not everyone is gonna blindly trust everything you say.
Screw you. It's not my job to search for proof of something a complete stranger told me was a fact.
I don't give a damn if you're a high rep user, stop acting like a dick.
The proper response is to say something like "oh, well thanks for the information, I'll search around and see if I can find it" or even just "thanks for the info", not to start a conflict because all of the information you'd really like to have is not present and the other person doesn't want to spend a whole bunch of time constantly searching for things every time they want to make a one off helpful comment to someone with no strings attached.
I'm not being lazy, I made a direct decision that I was already as invested as I wanted to be in providing help on the subject matter. Just be thankful I posted something, or to whoever else when they post something - don't make demands on other people's free time because nobody is entitled to force others to spend more of their time than they feel like, especially when someone is making demands in a conflictual way. Perhaps you had a bad day or something as I've not seen you act this way before?
I am rather disappointed in the way you've responded to me though, and it makes me want to offer less help in the forums to people if I'm going to end up with people making upsetting comments and demands on me afterward and criticizing me for it.
While you were posting your rude comments, I had seen you entered a giveaway for a game in another thread and I have a spare copy of that game. I had planned to give you a copy of it if you didn't win the giveaway. Well guess what? If you don't win, I'm still going to give it to you because I am in fact a good Samaritan and I'm not going to engage in a silly conflict with you.
I hope whatever it was that ruined your day and lead you to take it out on me went away and that you're having a better day to day anyway. Life is short, and there's far too much negativity in the forums these days. Let's all work on changing that by being more civil to each other.
