Alm888: I think GOG just desided to ditch Linux altogether. Galaxy is not in the works, games missing Linux versions, missing Linux updates (like this 1.0.0-7 version, or this lack of 1.08.24201 version, or this lack of 2.2.2.f version) and a total team of 1 (one) tech support guy (for my region that is) that is utterly unable to talk any sense into staff responsible for this…
I own all the 3 games you mentioned and only CrossCode is the one out of date.

Sudden Strike 4 is at v1.11
Shadow Tactics at 2.2.10.f

Currently the ones I know that are out of date are:

Signal From Tolva (Lin 1.62, Win 1.65)
CrossCode (Lin 1.0, Win 1.07)
Don't Starve (Lin Prehistoric (2017), Win fairly latest)
Dreamfall Chapters (Latest patch not available on Linux yet)

-----

In GOG's defense, they're not always to blame. Some devs (such as Klei Entertainment) don't put much effort in GOG releases. Overall I'd say most of the games are up to date as I tend to keep an eye on all the ones I own, I often email devs asking why the GOG release is outdated, sometimes they say they have an issue with uploading to GOG (which is strange considering how many other devs push Linux updates successfully), while others give cryptic replies, possibly due to NDA.

Yes, I know. That's why I've given links to changelog. Those games had outdated Linux versions for some time in the past. The denoted versions were skipped altogether on GOG (Steam™ had 2.2.2.f for "Shadow Tactics")

I'd say, if a developer has issues with updating on GOG it means the uploading process was not streamlined enough. That's GOG's fault. GOG has "curation" and mandatory testing of all uploaded patches (or so it claims :) Yes, I'm figuratively looking at "Pathfinder: Kingmaker") and if the support team for my region (not only for Linux but for all OSes!) comprising of a single guy is any indication, it is not hard to assume that Linux QA department is of equal size. :)

Ah ok I see now, my bad.

Also:

There was the case of Blackhole a few months ago. I emailed the devs why the GOG version was so outdated, their reply was due to something on their end when uploading to GOG, I don't have the email anymore but it was something along those lines.

As for SteamWorld Heist is also outdated:

Direct email from the devs:

Hi,
We are well aware that the GoG version is lagging behind the published Steam version, and this is unfortunate.

The 2.1 version of SteamWorld Heist will be, unfortunately, delayed until late September due to internal workload and added features and the rights to publish those.
I can not go into details on the later, I can only apologize that you will not have the patch until late September, sorry.
I've already sent a reminder email that September is gone.

shmerl: Does it only seem so, or @linuxvangog is a lot less active lately and @JudasIscariot too.
What does Judas have to do with Linux support?

He often helps directing requests to right people, answers questions about what's going on and etc. Lately he went completely silent. I suspect GOG introduced some "no communication" policy, which is not a good thing.

It's probably just a temporary thing.

I have to say that, quite a while ago, I contacted Judas a number of times in quick succession, since I wasn't sure why I hadn't received a reply. Now I know that it's usually best to wait, since GOG gets snowed under with work at various times, rather than everyone disappearing off into the ether. :-)

Anyway, Judas hasn't totally disappeared, as evidenced by one of his posts in the Stellaris sub-forum, https://www.gog.com/forum/stellaris/ubuntu_1804_crash_on_startup/post2.

Sure, but he does that for Mac users and mostly for Windows users as well. AFAIK, he's not Linux or Support specific. While his forum presence has dropped, I still see him around at times in the sub-forums. I just assumed he was busier and/or more responsibilities at work.
Any chance we'll see >observer_ as an installer on Linux? It's still a tar.gz archive.

EDIT: To add onto this, I think The Real Texas needs some libraries included with it, as well. Seems it needs older libraries than most distros include by default. Got it working by copying them from the steam runtime.

He doesn't appear to be active in GOG chat anymore, and it started around the same time that @linuxvangog vanished from the forum and Reddit (around 3-4 months ago). So I have a feeling it's some new GOG non communication policy that made it worse.

Either that, or all the Linux-savvy staff at GOG are extremely busy with some Linux-related project... </wishfulthinking>

Naaaaah... who am I kidding? You're probably right. :\

Hah, that remains to be seen. But so far GOG doesn't appear to be helpful even with Wine cases (like example with The Saboteur map above), so I don't expect any sudden breakthroughs.

That one's easy; he just doesn't like you. :P
@linuxvangog: FYI: the map in The Saboteur is working correctly now! Not sure what helped it exactly. Latest Wine or latest GOG release (before I was one release behind). Either way - it's now good.
To whom it may concern:

When uninstalling GoG linux games, what files are left behind on the system that I will need to remove manually to clean up all files created by installing and playing. Thank you!

Normally games are self contained, so just remove the install directly. After that, you need to remove $HOME/.local/share/applications/<name>.desktop file related to the game.

GOG installer also creates $HOME/.gnome/<something>.desktop file which is complete clutter. Simply delete whole $HOME/.gnome if you ever find one.
