hedwards: Did they even really exist anymore? It's a serious question, they don't appear to have been particularly active even before Disney bought them.
Smannesman: AFAIK Disney fired everybody and canceled all the games that were in production.
From what I can tell they were already winding down before that point. I don't see any games on the wiki page that were actually in production at the time and the previous 10 years were rather slow.
I'm guessing that it was probably going to happen eventually as they were already outsourcing games to other development houses to write.
Mergers and acquisitions are a convenient time to get rid of employees as everybody expects a course correction.

SirPrimalform: That is a good point, they were sort of petering out. The Monkey Island Special Editions were even outsourced, right?
I'm not sure, but that's probably correct, I see they outsourced some other stuff to EA and those projects continued after Disney acquired LA.
wolfsite: Fully against this.
What Disney likes to do with IP's these days is milk them for everything they are worth. Look at Marvel, we are almost at the point (or there already) of theatres getting over-saturated with comic book movies that they have lost there appeal for a lot of people (and DC hasn't even entered the arena yet).
Plus a Star Wars movie every year I feel could diminish the franchise. Look how big the Star Wars brand was built with just three movies (before the prequel trilogy even existed), with new movies every year it kind of takes away from majesty that is Star Wars.
I know I'm not quite explaining it right but hopefully it will make sense.
I'm not sure how much more damage it could do than the prequel trilogy.
