So it's an opinion piece with no regards to actual events, just make up something outrageous to get views and say "hey, I was just wondering about it". Shouldn't be surprised it's from Polygon.

Smannesman: This feels more like an Elmo topic than a Barry topic.
Oh come on even I am not delusional enough to think Nintendo games can on GOG. Especially since they have to build their games from the ground up for PC in the first place.

Disney may be capable of getting Nintendo but why? Never heard of Disney buying foriegn studios.

Why? The IP.

I love both Shigsy and DotT, but that is a horrendous idea.

Two bad ideas in a single thread. Welcome the new tinyE.

No, Nintendo are run by old Japanese men stuck in the 70's, but there is possibility of real hope for the company and Disney (no matter how good they have been with LA stuff) should stay far away.
It would be better off moving into the hands of someone like Saga or Namco. With a cultural balance to what has been before.

Even if Nintendo folds, Game Freak and other studios that work with them have already worked on other platforms, so I am sure all future games would come out somewhere. It would not be like everything just vanishes over night.
The article reiterates exactly what I've heard before: Nintendo holds a lot of valuable IP that makes it very attractive, and its sagging sales makes it a relatively cheap buy, but it's sitting on a mountain of cash so unless they start hemorrhaging red ink they can tell prospective buyers to go f--- off. I don't see anything changing any time soon.

Oh, that was good! XD

I applaud you.
I once tried to care about Nintendo, just to see what it's like. I failed.

Nintendo likes to do there own thing though. They have never been known to just follow popular trends proffering to innovate. So they would be very head strong if someone came along and tried to tell them how to operate.

Also keep in main Nintendo is a Japanese company and they are very entrenched in tradition, Iwata was the first CEO who was not a member of the family that owns the company (Family name escapes me). The shock of a western company acquiring Nintendo could cause a lot of people to leave the company due to these traditions. Many Western companies struggle in Japan as well so getting acquired by Disney would cause a huge loss of confidence in the Japanese market.
Sorry to see another idea thread getting such a strong negative response like this.

Personally, I wouldn't have any problem with it, and it would have the potential to lead to great things. One of the most-voted Wishlist entries for GOG is to start selling console games using emulators, and that's something I really want here. If Disney buying Nintendo meant having ROMs and ISOs for their games put on sale here, I would absolutely love that.

Look if Nintendo would just learn the market attraction to their games across more then just their latest console I would happily rebuy all the Pokémon games emulated on PC. Here or on Steam, I just love the games so much.
But Nentendo are a bit weird and the thought of making easy money, rather then continually relying on the old nostalgia, appears to escape them. Probably for the best, at least for now.
I am hoping that Nintendo would someday abandon the hardware business, and focus exclusively on game development for all platforms. Being able to play Metroid Prime 4 with the mouse & keyboard would be very nice.
