The remake of the original Gothic is one of the most anticipated titles. We absolutely can’t wait to finally get our hands on it, and we know you feel the same.

Today, the first entry in the official making-of video series for Gothic 1 Remake just dropped to help ease the wait.

Let’s all enjoy it and learn more about the creation process of this beauty.

And remember, this game will be available on GOG as soon as it's released.
I'm glad for them, but this is ultimately a meaningless pleasantry vs the matter of how the game feels and functions.

BreOl72: Well, let's wait and see...
I can see that on a T-shirt.

Dryspace: There is no such thing as a "remastered" video game. Video games are not mastered to begin with, and thus can not be re - mastered.

This is an A/V recording term that amounts to nothing more than marketing fluff. Because it means nothing in the context of a video game, it can mean anything, which is of course ideal for anyone wishing to sell "Classic Vidgyuh Game: REMASTERED".
Good thing this is a Remake then...
I really, really hope this succeeds.
Not because I think Gothic needed a remake, but because I want more games to embrace Gothic's design philosophy.

I've been playing Drova recently and oh my goodness I missed games like these!
My interest is high... Hope they can deliver a good experience.

Watching the video did make me a little sad. I know PB was a shell of its early days, but I hate to see it shuttered and it's seminal creation remade (and IP taken over?) by another studio. Feels kinda strange.

SargonAelther: Please bring the Remake playable teaser that was a Steam-exclusive to GOG.

CMiq: As far as I'm concerned - not even worth bringing this here from a completionist or parity perspective, given the absolute disgraceful travesty to the Gothic property that it is.
Agreed.

If the rumours of the 'Nyras' demo becoming publically available in a couple weeks should turn out to be true, the playable teaser would be even more obsolete.
Oh, it seems I’m having an orgasm! This is going to be one of the best remakes in the history of game remakes. :)

I've been following the project from the very beginning. These guys are true fans of Gothic and know their stuff. I hope they also release a remake of Gothic 2 and 3. Why am I interested in Gothic 3? Because it has a good storyline, but it needs particularly serious refinement.
I've actually lost count of the days I've spent playing the Gothic series. I can also say that I've lost count of the times I've replayed it. Even though the passage of time hasn't been very kind to the game, it remains one of my favorite series.
I'm looking forward to the release of what will ideally be a complete remake of the series.

No one would force you two to claim the demo.
nice doc.

The devs should be proud.
Really cool documentary!

Maybe I'm just reading into things but the fact that we have a dedicated news post for just the 1st part of the mini documentary could imply that GOG is getting the Gamescom demo as well?
It looks amazing! ^_^
On the Gamefound platform there is a preview of a board game set in the world of Gothic titled Gothic: A Shadow's Quest. THQ Nordic has separated a special board game department in its structure, which deals with this project. It is worth following, because in the event of a purchase, after the project has already started, we will receive a free gift - a pair of six-sided Gothic dice.
