Now I'm just hoping there'll be a DRM-free version. Especially for The Sims 1 - that is one game that does need to be preserved
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.

Couldn't care less about The Sims 2, but the first one...oh boy I would like that SO MUCH! :-O
Fingers crossed that this happen and that it will be done properly. :)
To be fair, the post says digital PC re-releases with all DLC and not remaster, but I can't be the only one thinking it's going to be a GOG release? From an earlier interview:
https://www.timeextension.com/news/2024/12/gog-plans-to-preserve-at-least-500-games-through-its-new-program-by-the-end-of-2025

According to Paczyński, GOG already has a list of a bunch of these titles, including "a few very iconic and long-requested games". Some of these were intended to join the program back in November but had to be held back from the initial batch, as they needed some additional fixes before they could be added to the program.

That'd be awesome of course, but we haven't gotten anything in like 8 years from EA, not even the old C&C games that could easily be brought over from Steam (when EA brought over all the old GOG games to Steam) and would sell extremely well. I'm just not getting my hopes up too far.

But I'm never say never, unlike

I hope it will not be a texture pack to Sims 4 only.

Funny - I thought, the remasters of "The Sims" and "The Sims 2" were "The Sims 3", resp. "The Sims 4". XD
If it's true will it cost hundreds of dollars like buying all the packs in Sims 3 and Sims 4? lol

I nabbed the complete Sims 3 for $60, but that was on a nice steep sale.
Not expecting much from EA. They are in a rough patch right now but they seem firmly committed to not supporting future DRM free initiatives...... but I'm more than willing to be wrong on this assumption.
It would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
You keep hoping that, and I'll keep hoping for economically viable teleportation.
So its sll but officially confirmed

All I am hoping now is a Gog release. The Sims is a Day 1 buy for me, but a drm-free option would be the most ideal option I'd go for if available.

If you include all Sims 3 store content it costs $74926 dollars...
