As per Kyros' will.

A new Edict of Renaming has just been issued by Kyros the Overlord and it decrees that two of Tyranny's versions be renamed thusly:

- Commander Edition is now called Standard Edition.
- Overlord Edition is now Deluxe Edition (same for the respective upgrade).

Additionally, a new Gold Edition is now available, which includes every piece of Tyranny content that's been released, including the two expansion packs.

All versions just received a FREE update which adds two portraits and some cool pieces of gear.

To celebrate Kyro's wisdom, these Tyranny versions got their base prices readjusted and are 50% off until November 12th, 11pm UTC.

NOTE: The free content update will hit the Mac and Linux versions soon.

yogsloth: Please post your results here when you find out - thanks!
New version installed from setup_tyranny_1.2.1.0160_(25021).exe - no new portraits either during character creation, or stored under "Tyranny\Data\data\art\gui\portraits\player"

There is no link for download of the "freeLCs" under "GOG Downloader Links," either - just the two paid expansion packs.

My assumption is "optional" Galaxy strikes again.

"Non-Galaxy users? Ain't nobody got time for that!" /s

By the by, might not be able to respond to anything further on the boards since I'm about to get hit with Google's CAPTCHA cutoff as usual, meaning at least 24 hours of non-login.

I'm not going to undo all my host blocks and whatnot just to post here. FFS, GOG, even Nexus, the "free" mod-hosting site, manages to self-host their captcha challenge.

I just sent an e-mail to GOG support (can't open a ticket through their own site since ZenDesk loves its third-party scripts...) and advised them of the situation.

Whatever the reason for this lack, this is a blatant case of false advertisement. And, frankly, I've long had it with the complete lack of attention to non-Galaxy users.

SOMEBODY should have checked Downloader files before making this announcement.
Well, the Gold edition has made it's way into my library. Looking forward to playing it later tonight!
It's kinda ironic that they renamed the Commander and Overlord editions just to add a new one.
I'm waiting for the Platinum overlord mega edition +3.

yogsloth: I'm currently almost done with my 3rd playthrough of this game.

Each one has been a totally different experience. First I was good, then I was sorta bad, and this time around I've smothered a baby to death with a pillow, helped a woman murder her wife for her inheritance, pushed a friend to his death from the top of a spire, and slaughtered the entire population of a town because I didn't like the cut of their jib.

It's my favorite RPG of the last five years, easily.

I can't recommend it highly enough.
So, your mini review was the tipping point that finally pushed me to purchase it. I played for an hour tonight, it's pretty damn fun, and I love the art. So far, it's a fun twist on things.

Anime-BlackWolf: Myself has the Overlord Edition, both Expansions and the Portrait Pack. I don't think I am missing stuff to the "new" Gold Edition...

Andrey82: Well, there is also some 2 Year Anniversary Gift Pack in Gold edition of Tyranny, but I don't see i in my list of DLCs.
But what exactly IS this "gift pack"? The portrait pack? The Code of Arms DLC?

I fear we must compare a complete "Gold Edition" and a "Overlord Edition" with all seperately available DLCs to find the details...
Am owner of the standart edition. Am on Galaxy. Started game to check for new Portraits.
Game: Please move along, nothing to see here.

Paradox pls fix.

Also for the record: I too want Crusader Kings II on GoG
To clarify - there is no Gold Edition Upgrade, true, but that is as intended by Paradox. Notice that it's the same on Steam or anywhere else.

Still, that does not mean it's not possible to have the Gold Edition content :)

If you have the Standard Edition, purchasing the Deluxe Edition Upgrade, Tales from the Tiers and Bastard's Wound will grant you the same content as purchasing the Gold Edition would.
If you already have the Deluxe Edition, you just need the two remaining Tyranny Expansions.

I hope this clears things up!

Welp, at least knowing that is something. Thanks.

I hate to be that guy, but... is there even a reason to buy games published by Paradox before editions like these appear?
I mean, everybody knows about the tons of DLC and the overly expensive costs of upgrading your edition, so in the end you will end up paying more to obtain every piece discounted than to buy the final version at full price.
Personally, I find this very disrespectful towards customers, especially considering the whole thing with Pillars of Eternity 1 and expansion.
Still, my open dislike for Paradox is known by now.

Thanks for clearing it up. Generally speaking, will the "not everything I own is maked as owned due to different packages"-issue ever be fixed? It´s annoying...
(in this case: Despite owing the deluxe & DLCs, the standard edition, the gold edition and the deluxe upgrade or not marked as "in library")

Teaches me to never ever again pre-order.

I don't disagree with you.
One thing that makes a difference though is time. If you are of certain age and mentality and you know that life is short, you might want to bite the bullet before you die. With Paradox releasing the games like this, you are always taking a bet if you will get the chance to play the finished game or not, before you die.
