AOL Mail is a free web-based email service offered by AOL (formerly America Online). Here are some key things to know about AOL Mail:

AOL Mail has been around since the early 1990s when it was one of the main email services offered through AOL's proprietary online service. It became web-based in the late 1990s.

Account holders get an @aol.com or @aim.com email address. The service is offered for free but AOL also offers paid plans with additional storage and features.

AOL Mail is fairly basic compared to other webmail services but it offers standard features like email composition, address book, spam filtering, etc. Storage space is limited on free accounts.

Through the years, AOL has enhanced AOL Mail with additional customization options, integration with other AOL services, and better organization tools. But the interface remains fairly simple.

It's considered a reliable service for personal email use. However, some businesses may prefer platforms from Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or other providers with more robust options.

AOL is now owned by Verizon Media but AOL Mail continues to operate independently from other Verizon email platforms like Yahoo Mail.

So in summary, AOL Mail is a long-standing free webmail service best suited for basic personal email use with an @aol.com or @aim.com address.

I would say it is on par with MS Mail running on a state-of-the-art 486DX PC with Windows 3.11 and a mouse.

I personally suggest an iki.fi email account as it is, as the name clearly suggests, eternal. You will never need another email account, EVER! Never ever ever!
What is A(OL) Ma(il)n?

A miserable little pile of secrets.
What can change the nature of man?

Apparently nothing. Man will always click on and reply to clickbaity AI-generated posts.

But enough of that. Have at ye!
Inferior to MSN Messenger is what it is.
Not worth the CD it was burnt to...
ICQ was much better and way ahead of AOL/Microsoft feature-wise although buggy as hell.

But AOL/Microsoft bundled their software and the rest is history.

I remember using ICQ.... unfortunately when you look at the agreement, basically anything you put in they can claim/copyright later as them owning. At lest that's what i remember and why i dropped ICQ. (Not that i used it hardly at all)
