katsaysmeh: That function actually makes it possible to gift someone a "slice" of the bundle, meaning that they get both the Steam/Desura/whatever key AND the DRM copy. So I give the game away. Not just the key.

I like that option. I am guilty of giving away Humble Bundle (or other bundle) keys, but I only give keys of games away that I'm not gonna play. I think other people never thought twice about it and treated it as two different copies of the game.
Actually, as Tallima mentioned above, this is what Humble's support page on key gifting says:
The gifting process will only give the recipient the Steam key. If there is a soundtrack or DRM Free copy of the game in the bundle, you will still retain ownership of it and it will stay on your download page.

Durr, my bad. I think I just never bothered to look if the game I gave away actually left my library. Thanks for clearing that up.

What's really confusing is that their support page seems to conflict with what they say on the key gifting page.

Each purchase is intended for use by one individual. Please read our Terms of Service.
I'm looking through said terms of service to get to the bottom of it.

EDIT: I figured it out. The key they're referring to here is the unique URL key generated by Humble Bundle on their website, whereas the separate Steam key gifting is still legal. You can't give away Humble keys, but you can give away Steam keys if they're available.

Their old TOS did not allow you to gift any of your extra games. People did so anyway. Their new bundle url system is a response to that demand and a way to regulate it so that people know where the games were from.

As long as you're not using them for commercial uses (retail), you're fine in gifting them away. If you want to trade them for other bundle games or so, that's fine. Some people are still following the old rule system and view it as taboo or whatnot, and that's fine if that's what they want to do. But there's no ethical or TOS dilemma for you.
Hi, trust your gut on this one. You get a single game, with different ways to access it.

Personally I activate all keys I get from bundles, even games I do not want at all. I only trade / give the doubles.

Humble now gives you the option to create gift links from it.
They condone it. Do it if you want to, don't if you don't. As simple as that. It is allowed.
