Apparently the voice actor is in debt and willing to work cheap. Time to get a bit of cheap voice work done...
He could always set up a paypal account and ask for donations.
Not that I know what the dude sounds like, having never played the games, but someone's bound to take the bait of helping one of their idols "IM SPESHAIL I HELPED A FAUMOS DUDE!!!".
I always felt Serious Sam was a higher pitched, gruffer version of Duke. I'd like to see John Dick (lol) have a go at Duke, but I'm too cheapskate to fork out $10 just for that.
Chuck in a few DNF references and this story is bizarrely close to the premise of a song I wrote about Duke's voice actor:
There's a man with a voice, his cash cow freshly slaughtered
Kicked in the groin when his big comeback was canned
Now he barely avoids deep financial water
I ask you, who will help this man?
There's a man with a voice comprised mostly of gravel
Soon he'll have little choice but to sadly handle pans
Now he's here at the point where everything unravels
I ask you, who will help this man?
(from here things go a bit mad)
As for Sam's voice - it's alright, but frankly it's nothing I can't do myself. It's not very distinctive.
