OmegaX: For example, the higher levels of the Sharpshooter perk require more headshots than I've ever done in my whole lifle across every FPS I've played. Maybe I just suck at FPSs though.

grviper: Well, you don't have to play as a sharpie to score headshots. I got to level 3 medic, never playing the class, simply by healing people in need.
Yes, I know. I try to get headshots on the first couple of rounds with the handgun using whatever class but still the number of headshots on level 4 and higher is way to high. Also, headshots with any other weapon that is not a sharpshooter weapon don't count. It's a shame because the Bullpup headshots like crazy.
Playing at my own pace it will take me months to reach the maximum level and I'll lose interest way before that. I wish they made a "double experience" weekend or something.
Killing Floor is a great cooperative FPS/ zombie shoot. It's given me hundreds of hours of enjoyment. It also has some of the most satisfying feeling weapons of any semi-realistic FPS I've ever played. I whole heartedly encourage you to give it a try during the free weekend.

Also, ignore comparisons to Left 4 Dead. While they're both cooperative multiplayer zombie shooters, Killing Floor has more in common with Orcs Must Die and that's a single player tower defense game*.

*arena maps, waves, mob behavior, camping, headshot mania, purchasing goodies, etc
The best way to describe Killing floor is "more fun than it has any right to be." Shooting things in this game just FEELS right. Even the ubiquitous iron sight aiming has a much more visceral feel than the sort of "snap-shoot" ADS of Call of Duty. It can also be pretty intense when you're seperated from your squad and encounter a Fleshpound.

For $8, I'd certainly pick it up. As someone who usually doesn't like multiplayer shooters, I found it to be really fun and addictive. Possibly better than Left 4 Dead.
I like it very much.

Steam says something about 109 hours. It's all about gunplay and gunplay is solid. Super solid. Leveling classes with class weapons, wielding doors, pipebombs...

And Halloween/Xmas/Summer events with new maps, reskins and unlockable skins are great. Plus they added new weapons for every class, which closes the gaps for some classes - medic&support&demo

Or when the game decides that two Fleshpounds from behind is exactly what everyone needs with the mob count in three digits.

hee hee. Exactly.
It's an excellent survival shooter. Even better with friends.

Keep in mind that the DLC is literally just character skins. I don't know how much cheaper the standalone game is, but all the levels and such are unlocked for free.
Killing floor is a great game and for 8$ you can't go wrong. The game has had so much free content from release that these guys certainly deserve to sell a ton of copies.
Waitaminute... there are new guns in the update?
If Left 4 Dead is for players who want tight plot and rollercoaster action, Killing Floor is for players who want to do whatever the f they want.
Holy cow... I'm sold...

It seems like there isn't anyone with a negative thing to say about it. I can't remember the last time I saw so much universal love for a game.

I'm gonna buy it now. :-)

Thank you for all the feedback.

Just found this thread.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there. I was playing this game yesterday during the free weekend when my graphics card started acting up on me. Not sure if the game caused it, but just thought I'd throw that out there. Might want to make a post on the forums making sure your hardware will work fine with it.
Steam is also letting you play for free all weekend - give it a go and see - That is my plan.

With the free weekend, try it before you buy it. I like the game, but it's very unforgiving if you don't know your Perk's limits and the limits of your levels, and the levels take a while of dedicated work to get anywhere with (which can be frustrating if you're going to play it casually like I do).

It's a fairly solid game, but you are limited by how much time you put in, and there's a ceiling I've found with the perk levels, no matter how good you are, you are limited by them.
It's actually pretty fun now. I don't know if it was unbalanced before or if I was just crap. But there aren't any nasty difficulty spikes now, in my experience.
