gameon: It looks just like this gen of gaming. I guess its too early to see the graphical side of it. Maybe i should have concentrated on the technical side of the game engine.....

Forget the graphics. I'd like to see the improvements to the scripting language.

The diff is that Unreal Engine is something in development... and Heavy Rain is a game from last year... that do look good...but it is mainly prerendered cinematics.

So far 3 engines are to be watched by the big boys: CryEngine 3 by CryTek,Unreal Engine 4 by Epic & Frostbite 2 by DICE.

Check them ;)

To be honest I want to see improvements in history telling in games... they just don't make them like the classics anymore... games are getting simpler every day ;)

Just fire and ice? I guess they're letting CryTek keep the lush, tropical island niche.
The video looks like it is early Unreal 3 with PhysX. Some parts were blatantly taken from the PhysX demo and from UT3.

CryEngine 3 is in better development state.I really like that little car in the Real-time part of their video ;)

But so far both Frosbite 2 & CryEngine 3 are hungry as hell for GPU,CPU & RAM
