So – we know all about the hardcore gamers out there who play everything on insane setting and are too fast for their 10Ghz processors to keep up. But what about people like me who have the metaphorical reactions of a Spectrum 48K and like things to be easy?

To summarise, I don’t mind relatively complex games but hate or more to the point, don’t have the ability to play anything too difficult. I get frustrated and give up.
I was therefore hoping that the GOG community could help me out by listing any games they’ve played that are genuinely easy (complex is fine) to play. Any genre, any game on GOG would be great.

I’ll start:

Sacred Gold on Bronze – do as many side quests as possible to build up XP, loot everything (inc cursed treasure) and always be on the lookout for better armour, spells and weapons.

The Witcher on easy – as above with quests and loot. Gather herbs and *read* as many books as possible to obtain potions that’ll make progress a doddle.

I’d like to try Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate series and Might and Magic but have read on other sites that these are hard – would be delighted to hear otherwise.

Divine Divinity is relatively a great game that is relatively easy.

Play some classic adventure games if you haven't already.. Well, those require reading and in witcher, you mis a lot. It was a bit frustrating for me in the start but it turned out to be one of the best games that I ever played.
And in witcher, the first boss is difficult, I died many times but rest of the game wasn't so unfair.
Infact.. those are just the games that require reading and concertation a lot. I like Slow paced things too. That's why my fafourite genre is adventure or rpg. And some shooters isn't bad.. If you don't want to read and you got the pc for it, play crysis 1. I think it is one the best shooters ever.
If you want a story without reading.. I think that's quite impossible.

Heroes of Might and Magic might not be "easy", but its turn-based nature give you ample opportunity to plan your moves. Ditto Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale (and sequels), though not directly turn-based you can pause at any time and give orders while paused, as well as set up the games to autopause at just about any given event (characyer hit, round end, enemy sighted ...).

Rollercoaster Tycoon is pretty easy.
Broken Sword: DC has some difficult puzzles, but there's a hint system in the game, so you'll never be completely stuck.

FlatOut is easy and fun :)

The Guild is a cakewalk on easiest. You seriously can't go wrong. The same goes with Patrician 3. If you remember your buy low sell high, you ain't never getting out of that pile of money.

Yes it is but nobody wants to drive forever. If I had a TV I still would play gran turismo 1 or 2. ^^

And easy? I played the demo and was always in the forest. At least it was finnish forest. =)

Edit: Infact I had a year and a half pause mostly about playing.. I just couldn't concentrate and I frustrated. Well, that was a time when I frustrated evenwithout games.

But I find some adventures relaxing.. And then comes that lock puzzle.. I can understand monkey islands monkey wrench but if it is numberlock in some chest. I liked still life was it one ore two.. just couldn't pass the fucking chest.
Good thing I bought longest journeys again.. those are good stories and those will not get so my in nerves.

What kind of difficulty turns you off? Is it just your reflexes, or do you dislike excessively difficult puzzles, strategic problems, etc as well?

I always liked to Kings Quest series.

And I'd like to agree with one of the posters above Heroes of Might and Magic 3 awesome turn based strategy game every made.

Fallout 2. As long as you don't skip any towns or anything and just take your time, the game will be a cakewalk.

Any FPS on easy really.

Ice Wind Dale is frustratingly hard at times, due to using D&D 2E mechanics. Worse if you're not familiar with D&D 2E.

BG makes IWD seem nice and easy. (In IWD you custom craft your entire party, allowing you to create a nice synergy, and no one character is 'game over' if they die. BG you only create the main character, and it's game over if they die)

PS:T is also based on D&D 2E rules, but heavily modified. It's easier, and less suicidal, than BG or IWD. On the counterpart to that, it's a fairly low combat, extremely high story game.

If you found Sacred Gold too easy on Bronze, try it on Silver, especially if you import your character from the Bronze game. Also your definition of that, explained an entire genre ("Diablo Clones" usually called Action RPGs, though these days not all Action RPGs are Diablo Clones)

I played heroes 3 with my brother.. he showed me how to play.. It's better than chess and I hate chess.

And I liked police quest 1 and 2. I must google those that I don't remember wrong games.

Planescape Torment is mainly dialogue and I think tweak pack offers some cheat items that could make occasional combat easier - however, only 2 or so fights troughout the entire game are required, rest you can run trough, talk trough or skip in some other way.

2 or so? I guess I wasn't intelligent enough. =)
