I love music, and I want to know what you guys listen to. As you can guess by my avatar, I love King Crimson and progressive rock in general. So, what do you guys like?
I don't listen to music that much, and when I do, I listen to a range of artists and genres. If I had to choose, I would say that rock is the dominant genre, and Queen in particular. But like I said, no real winners.
I listen to a pretty wide genre (depending on my mood), but the following is usually on my Zune (because nothing is more anti-heroic than whining about one's lot in life while using the random feature on a portable player. At least, that is what Nightwatch taught me :p).
Poets of the Fall
Cold
Anberlin
Ingrid Michaelson
Fireflight
So Alternative Rock, Post-Grunge, Alternative Rock, Indie Pop, and Christian Rock (or whatever Fireflight thinks they are). According to Wiki :p
That being said, those are just the ones that are always on there. Pretty wide variety for the temporaries.

Hell yeah, I'm a prog guy too. Favorite band is Yes, best album ever is Close to the Edge. With In the Court of the Crimson King right behind it. :D
Mostly metal here, particularly death and progressive, but I listen to a bit of every sub-genre. Occasionally I also listen to some classical, rock, jazz, dubstep and industrial.
Dunno what I would consider my favorite band/composer/coherent noise creator would be, but here's a few examples of what I listen to:
All Shall Perish
Painted in Exile
Gojira
Shining
Focus
Dvorak
Vivaldi
Mozart
Rhapsody of Fire
Despised Icon
Iron Maiden
IWrestledABearOnce
Quo Vadis
Origin
Queen
I love Trance and Chillout. Don't listen anything else other than these two genres. And if I have to pick out a sub-genre, that would be Uplifting Trance.
Here are some of the artists that I listen to:
Andy Blueman
SoundLift
Arctic Moon
Above & Beyond
Sky Motion
Super8 & Tab
Markus Schulz
Oceania
Daniel Kandi
Ferry Corsten
Aly & Fila
Heavy metal, mostly newer stuff from the 1990s onward - not really a fan of the older bluesy stuff, though there's some metal from the 80s here and there that I like. Mostly I like power, speed, arena and symphonic metal - the geeky side of metal. Don't care for thrash, death or black metal.
I couldn't name just one favorite band, but my favorite vocalist has got to be Veronica Freeman. The woman has the voice of a chainsaw, but she wields it with power, precision and melody all at once.
Almost anything from Enslaved to Morcheeba.
I listen to everything other than the extremes... hardcore gangster rap, hardcore metal or modern country music.
Favorite band is R.E.M. or The Talking Heads.
I listen to a broad range. Rock, metal, electronic, jazz, classical, world, etc.
My favorites are Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Amon Tobin, Venetian Snares, Tori Amos, David Bowie, Goldie, Pearl Jam, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Tribe Called Quest, Bjork, Varttina, Bill Laswell, Juno Reactor, Skinny Puppy, Tool, Jonas Hellborg, Buckethead....
I could go on, but I'll just hope that gives you some sense of the scope. These are also the musicians where I own most everything they have put out.
Oh yeah, I'm with you on the progressive rock too: King Crimson, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Adrian Belew, Frank Zappa... I dig all that stuff.

AC/DC, Audioslave, Black Sabbath, Blaze Bayley, Deep Purple, Dio, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Godsmack, Hammerfall, Heaven and Hell, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Joe Satriani, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Manowar, Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Primal Fear, Queen, Rainbow, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen.
These are my favorite bands and artists. That said, my favorite song actually isn't rock'n'roll. It's Águas de Março from brazillian composer Tom Jobim.
Last.fm tells me that my favourite (most listened to) bands are Urma, The Cardigans, Placebo, Stereophonics, A Camp, Bitter:Sweet, Vermillion Lies, Muse, Katie Melua, Liquido, Coldplay, Vanessa Paradis, Snow Patrol, Regina Spektor and The Killers.
On short though I mostly listen to indie rock, dashes of electro, female vocalist bands and mellow trip-hop.
Aidan Baker + Tim Hecker; Andrew Liles; Asva; Atrium Carceri; Aun; Bohren & Der Club Of Gore; Cities Last Broadcast; Death Ambient; Desiderii Marginis; Freida Abtan; Gustaf Hildebrand; Halo Manash; Harmonium; Kammarheit; KTL; Lacus Somniorum; Lustmord; Mark Morgan; Mushroomer; Naked City; Nest; Neun Welten; New Risen Throne; Niko Skorpio; Northaunt; Nurse With Wound; Oblivion Ensemble; Raison d'Etre; Robert Rich & B. Lustmord; Sephiroth; Sinke Dus; Skinwell; Sunn O))) & Boris; Technology of Silence; Tenhi; The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble; The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation; Tholen; Tomas Dvorak; Zoat-Aon
Those are some of the artists in my playlist. I like mostly experimental / dark ambient / drone / neofolk music, but I am open to almost every genre.
Before that, there was a moment where I listened to a lot of progressive rock / metal too. And after that, some funeral doom metal :)

Dude, if you like King Crimson and that whole 70's british medieval prog scene, you HAVE TO LOVE Gentle Giant!! I can't recommend any specific album, their all delicious progressive 70's rock! But seriously, check them out, they are very underrated, and their live albums are fantastic!
