keeveek: Why is that? First MOHAA has quicksaving, and it works like a charm.
I hate killing the same braindead enemies over and over again because I died two steps before autosave. By the way, MOHAA has autosaves as well, so it's not like COD "replaced" quicksaves with checkpoints, they just get rid of an option to save anywhere.
I know, also some other shooters already had autosaving before MoH:AA at times *but* still those games weren't designed with the goal to make them perfectly beatable without quicksaving. Fully abandoning quicksaves means that the whole game has to be rebalanced and designed in a more "sane" manner that those older games just weren't (trying to beat the first CoD on the hardest setting without quicksaving is near impossible - if at all since you can't even heal there). That's why to me fully eliminating quicksave capability is an almost completely different system. And personally I'll pretty much always prefer a checkpoint based game over one with free saving. :PI hate killing the same braindead enemies over and over again because I died two steps before autosave.
