Yeah, I mean look at the game mechanics. Thief & Splinter Cell had several movement speeds, each making a different amount of noise. How many did Conviction have, two? One for running and one for crouching. One made sound the other didn't.
Thief & SC had linear visibility meters, with several states between 'hidden' and 'fully visible'. Today's stealth game have two - you're either hidden or you're not. What we get with hybrid genre games is not the best of both worlds, but a jack of all trades, master of none combination. At least I've yet to find a (partially) stealth game that lives up even to the first Splinter Cell, let alone to Thief.

I'd rather read an article than listening to this video. To me the narrator's accent is unbelievably annoying and hardly understandable so I can't follow the video at all.
I saw splinter cell : conviction while clicking randomly. In a video about stealth. lol

I work in an open office. Having to get out the earphones just to listen to an article is pain in the ass, when I could be reading it instead. Not to mention if I'm down in the labs doing something there, there's lots of loud background noise there so I'll be using earplugs in order to preserve my hearing, hard to listen to any videos with them on.
Let's put it this way: what if all these messages in the GOG forum would be small youtube videos with talking heads, instead of written messages? Would that suit you well? Exactly.
Of course in some cases a video makes more sense, at least embedded into the article e.g. when showing some gameplay etc., but too often you see many articles being turned into videos just because the author apparently likes his/her own voice so much, or the online magazine wants to pretend they are a real TV-station with their own real TV-programs.
