After you purchase new games the sorting switches to "by purchase date" just to be sure you will be able to quickly find the games that were just added to your collection. After that you can easily switch back to your preferred order by choosing the "manual" sorting mode. In "manual" sorting mode new games are added to the bottom.

HiroshiMishima: Why the heck does it revert to "By Purchase Date" when you click that? It's pretty user unfriendly when you had those 100+ titles all organized the way you wanted to, and suddenly it's like someone dumped a jigsaw puzzle onto the floor.

I always had it set to Manual. I'm pretty sure it didn't used to go back to "By Purchase Date", has that been added as of late? I do remember the games used to show up at the bottom, rather than the top. I wouldn't even mind them showing up at the top, so long as it didn't reshuffle the rest of the list.
If you click back on "manual" it should restore the order you had; you haven't lost your organization. It's just a quick way for you to see what it is that you just bought. :)
