I went to Ambrosia's website today to send them an email asking for a re-download of Escape Velocity Nova (can you believe after eight years they still want the full $30 for it?), and I noticed that in their Mac Only section, they were selling Aquaria (Also for $30. Funny that, I only paid $19.99 for the Windows version). Bit Blot's site is still up, but the last update was Dec '09.

They haven't "gone under," exactly. Bit-Blot was primarily a collaboration between Alec Holowka and Derek Yu, both of whom have gone on to other projects independent of one another. It's not known if there will be another Bit-Blot game, though Alec is supposedly doing preliminary work on a spiritual successor to Aquaria.
I think the two of them haven't strictly ruled out the possibility of making another game together as Bit-Blot, but at the moment I'm not aware of any such future plans.

Bah, Aquaria NEEDS a full fledged sequel, not a ruddy "spiritual successor". The ending of Aquaria (and I'm talking ANY of the endings, whether you find the Memories, keep what's-his-face alive, etc) is still sequel-protoplasm. But I suppose that's why they released the mod-making kit, so that a fan would do all the heavy-lifting.
