Well, how would you feel about Day -17 DLC?

Yep, in the ongoing "lets play silly buggers with Japan", 2K have just released the first Borderlands 2 DLC 17 days BEFORE Borderlands 2 itself releases. Not only that, but they have decided to put a 100% markup on it too in order to celebrate such a stupidly monumental occasion.

The really stupid bit? As the game is still a pre-order, you currently get that overpriced DLC for free >__> Not to mention it doesn't have the same markup anywhere else.

So the question is, what other DLC has been released *before* its corresponding base game? Naturally, Day 0 DLC and game name changes (i.e., Railworks yearly namely changes) don't count.
DLC? More like DLBS.
I don't think it's *that* bad if the game has already been released elsewhere. However, the whole 0day DLC (or in this case -17day DLC) thing still makes me want to hurt small animals...

Looks good on you, you Japs wiht your material culture, you would think you'd be happy!

/end semi-sarcastic troll mode.

I think it's apalling for a company that had such a big hit to go all "hollywood" with their very next game. At the very least they could have PRETENDED they developed it after the main game went gold by selling it three months after release like everybody else does.

Too bad, Borderlands was one of my favorites. I will buy BL2 though, in 2 years time, complete, for $10.
Fuck DLC period.

Fuzzyfireball: Fuck DLC period.
I agree. I don't mind buying an expansion pack, but I guess those 'happy' days are over.

Not entirely true, Project Eternity has already promised an honest to goodness expansion pack a solid 6 months after the game releases. Maybe if we all stop buying DLC and only buy Project Eternity + Expansion Pack the industry will get the hint.

Too bad all the mainstream kiddies love DLC and will continue to support the plague that is ruining gaming.

Not entirely. Project Eternity is apparently going to have an honest-to-goodness expansion pack a few months after release.

EDIT: Damn, ninja'd. :-P And with nearly the same wording! o_O

I stand corrected, I completely forgot about it. It's good to see that someone still believes in X-pac's.

But it's going to be a digital expansion, so... I think what you're complaining about isn't DLC in general, but little tiny DLC packs. Which I totally understand, fuck those little DLC packs, especially when it's Day 1 and obviously supposed to be part of the main game. Or $15 and four maps, half of which were from previous games.

I definitely could be wrong, but I thought the reason why they waited to release DLC was to extend the period of time during which they could charge full price and have people pay.

Also, for a lot of the DLC that folks release, it could easily be created during that period between going gold and actually having the product on shelves.

I'm not sure I'm going to bother with BL2 unless it's spectacular. I just found the first one to be way too grindy for my taste.

Meh, it's cool. Like they say, great minds think alike. ;-)

Yes, the tiny DLC packets. Especially at some of the prices they charge. I don't mind how the content is distributed to me (hell I bought a physical copy of the new XCOM today) I just want actual expanded content for $10 or $20, rather than rinky dink little additions that only add a couple hours of gameplay or cosmetic changes.
day one dlc or end of the world dlc this DLC crap is getting very annoying,, bunch of money hungry whores
