kazmar: So it has come to this, for part of my thesis I need to show how humans measure area by eye.
So I will be performing a preliminary experiment here.
Attached is an image which has three objects on a green background, all you have to do it tell me what percentage you think each of the shapes is filled with red.

And what do you get for this? Well the chance, for prizes, prizes!, prizes!
At the end, I will randomly draw one person to win a $9.99 GOG.
ALSO if we get over 50 people entering I'll add a $5.99 GOG
And if we hit 200! I will add another $9.99 GOG

To enter, look at the attached image and by eye (there is no extra prize for being right so please don't use a program) and estimate the percentage of red in each of the three shapes and then PM (important as to not influence other people) me the three values, from left to right,
to the nearest percentage (so for example 34%, 85%, 23% <------ These are very wrong)
And finally post your favourite game of all time (I will see if there is a correlation between answers and game type)

Thanks and good luck!

edit: Ending next Monday

Odonnell435: What exactly will this thesis be used for? As you've said, its to see how people measure an area with eyesight. But, what will the goal be in knowing this information?
Well the short answer is, that it will be used to show how humans generally measure objects by eye, and whether it is a simple rounding, over count, under count etc, which will be used to compare human measured medical images against computer automated images, to justify whether the computer can record the true amount areas of images.

I can give a longer (or clearer) answer if you want

You may want to consider other social mediums other then this forum if you want to reach your 200 people goal. Can't for the life of me think off the top of my head as to some good ones, maybe Reddit?
