I know alot of people who hate Impulse and wont use it simply because of Region restrictions, this is a big issue, and whenever people complain on Impulse's fourms their staff usually just blows them off or blames it on publishers and says they cant really do anything lame.
I wish I could talk to Brad, I could tell him right to his face him and his company need to stop bitching and moaning about "Steam the Evil Empire of DD" and get off their asses are start being a competitive business. Or they'll be out of business. Their IPs aren't enough to keep it operating.

You can, he is FrogBoy in the forums and he also has an Impulse Community blog. AFAIK he does reply forum and blog posts but don't expect to change his mind about anything.

drmlessgames: I think Impulse isn't needed to run any games downloaded from it, including Stardock games.

You're right, it isn't. It's the installation process that annoys me. As others have said in this topic. I really don't like it installing the second downloading completes as I may be doing something else at the time and the installation process is not only lengthy, but also requires a fair bit of resources.
Sure I could probably just leave their games downloading on the PC and go off out or sommat for a bit, but that's not a wise thing to do here during the summer.

drmlessgames: That was mentioned too on the impulse community forum, but most games are available on steam, gamersgate, d2d, and such, except for Impulse. Did all those download services sign an exclusivity agreement to keep Impulse out?

Not to mention that it's only on Impulse where Kalypso games are regionally marked up price wise. And not just by a little bit, but by a fair amount. Impulse blame that on the publisher too, yet can't explain why D2D and GamersGate (services they claim are smaller than them) are fully able to get the same cheaper pricing that Steam has (at least for regions where USD is used).

Brad goes online very often, you may get a reply from him too!!

Narakir: I had all trust about Stardock's projects about DRMs, their gamer's bill of right...

You know, the whole "Oh, we hate DRM as much as you do" shtick, of which the "Gamer's Bill of Rights" was a part, never struck me as anything other than a marketing ploy.
Quite frankly, I don't trust Stardock. I know they have a reputation for being The Only Ones Who Get It, but I've always gotten a dark vibe from that company, like they've got a knife under their coat.
Stardock tries to paint themselves as the ultimate pro-consumer development and publishing house, but I don't think their behavior bears that out. Moreover, something about the way they communicate and what they say - including the Gamer's Bill Of Rights - is just somehow wrong.

I agree. I am an Impulse sympathizer, if not an apologist, but even so, there are times when I wish they'd just get their act together. GOG can afford not to have such massive discount deals that Steam regularly has, simply because its games are already dirt cheap. Impulse, on the other hand, does not practice competitive pricing, and its weekly discounts are a joke. They have some good deals occasionally - remember the time Space Rangers 2 was sold at one heck of a price? I think it was $3 or something. But for the most part, Stardock just isn't doing its part to keep up with the market. A client that is rather unintuitive and a store with a cluttered up interface certainly do not help the poorly marked prices.

Yeah, at that time I was among the naive. I can still be naive with GoG tough, at least for the moment.

GOG meet their promises. Unlike Stardock who are good at making them.

As long as GOG keeps releasing games at least once a week, with their weekly deals, I'm happy. Like Delixe has mentioned, they keep their promises. No DRM? Check (even though the source has been a controversial issue). Good prices? Check, for the most part. Lots of good classics? Hell yes check.
I thought I would mention I have been banned from buying anything from Impulse. Highly amusing when you consider all the bad things I said about them were here and on twitter and mostly that was replying to them. Like I said, small company with a small minded mentality.

I am sure you can buy Meridian4 games from elsewhere.

Just the right course of action for a service that bitches about not being as popular as Steam! Instead of taking negative comments and complaints based on poor service as stepping stones to improve their service; they'd rather just block customers who have had poor service from them. Wonderful line of thinking there from Brad! They'll be the number one service in no time with that course of action!

Yeah, but if you become too critical or complain too much (and especially if you're also from a specific country, I think it was Germany), he'll throw a hissy fit and vow never to read or contribute any posts again in that particular forum. That actually happened on the Demigod boards in the months after that ill-fated game's release.

Oh no! Just when they laid out the splendour of their sale, including Bus Driver Simulator, Namco All Stars and a less complete THQ pack at twice the price Steam were selling it at.
