To add on though, it's rare for a customer support officer to come forth and speak his/her mind, on another forum no less. Regardless whether it's for better or for worse, at least it's better than Steam's "automated humanatons".

I had an odd experience with Impulse myself. Since then, I've never bought anything from there again, though I might buy Elemental when it's released.
Before I move onto the odd experience, I've perhaps bought (either retail versions that use Impulse or digital) around ten games and they all work fine.
So, this brings us onto the odd experience. I own Sins of a Solar Empire and I bought the Entrenchment mini-expansion. Now then, on my main gaming PC, I have it tied to my account. Yet, when I boot up the account on a laptop and it doesn't matter how many times I reinstall the game or Impulse, the expansion is not there at all. However, the base game is still available on the laptop along with every other game. I left one post on the forum to see what was wrong and basically I was asked to contact someone else or do an account switch or something. It was several months ago, so my memory is rather murky. Anyways, I never did so because I'd played the game and well, it's not like it was a full priced game. So, it's not like I can complain seeing as I never did what was asked. It's just odd what happened is all.
So, I'm unsure what actually happened because it seems Entrenchment isn't tied to my account, yet I can still access it on the PC. The only thing I can think of is I changed account details around the time I ordered it I believe, which may have had something to do with it. Actually, there is one other thing. I think Entrenchment could be bought via an external website? I.e. Ironclad and then tied to your Impulse account. I may have done that.
Anyways, I've never experienced the same problem with other places. Occasionally, games go missing on Steam but they do soon return without any emails to tech support.

And that's not an adequate reason because...?
And Disciples 3 released worldwide on Impulse today and it is $50.41 for me. I thought it would be $39.99. So Europeans screwed again I think.

Many regionally restricted games on Impulse are available more freely on other DD services.

It's 39,99€ here. So, yeah, up the ol' exhaust pipe.

'tis published by Kalypso. So yes, Impulse will mark it up horrible outside North (possibly South) America.
Steam also now have it for $39.99 (for areas charged in USD) and claim it's now available in Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Sadly for those of us in Japan, we are now apparently a part of the US as the game won't unlock for us until the US release date. Which makes me wonder when S.E. Asia stopped being a part of Asia as a whole U_U.
Still, it's also available on GamersGate for $35.95 /£31.45/€35.95.

And Stardock/Valve are to blame for a publisher not letting them distribute it? Bit of a daft reason to say Impulse is bad.

You're assuming it's the publisher who's placing the restriction. This is not always the case. There are cases, for example, where Valve impose restrictions on the availability of products even when the publisher of that product allows them to sell worldwide.
In fact, I just spent the last week and a bit getting such a restriction lifted on a product over Steam. Which they finally lifted today. So, don't automatically assume that restrictions/pricing is solely down to the whims of the publishers as it is not always the case.
Valve/Impulse
No one forcing them to sign a contract. Sometimes they are just too lazy to say no , or dumb .
edit
the other reason why Impulse sucks is the retail cd key activation ( has anyone checked the long game list in the register product menu ? Now try to add your retail CD key into Impulse )

I've always had good luck with Impulse . Between GOG.Com and Impluse I've only bought a few boxed in the last year . One thing I would like to see better On Impluse is the DRM on games being listed better/ more clear .
Seriously?! That's one thing that I think Impulse does really well...they disclose what it's using every time I've seen.

They used to be pretty good about recently they forgot to mention that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat has Tages. Coincidentally, they only added that information only after their weekend offer had ended.
