always meant to play that game...
I just peaked at the old reviews gamespot had of Incubation.
Giving the original game 6.6 and the expansion 8.0
That's quite a jump there, and considering how fun this game was (clearly not a 6.6) and the expansion getting a so much better score I beg for this game to reach the tops of the wishlist.

Well, review scores were not as inflated back then, so 6.6 really did indicate a "fair" game. Not good, but not bad either. And if you were looking for an X-COM type game, Incubation really is significantly simplified from that, both in the tactical, and especially the strategic aspect. The single player campaign has its flaws, being more of a puzzle game at times. And while it might be aesthetically powerful (great visuals and sounds, especially for the time), if you place more emphasis on gameplay, that's not going to help much overall.
So even though I don't agree with that review entirely, I can see where he's coming from. And supposedly, the expansion fixes a lot of the abovementioned flaws.
Anyway, I definitely agree with the "VOTE VOTE VOTE" sentiment. X-COM stands at 139 votes, Incubation at 52 - how about giving the former some competition?
I have this game (like most of the games on the wishlist, and certainly all the ones in the Top 10!) My expansion is called Hidden Worlds, so don't know if there were two add-ons or whether the add-on was called different things in different markets.
Blue Byte is still around I think, and is the sort of company with enough classics that it would do well here and is the sort of comapny GOG could maybe get a deal from. When you think of the Battle Isle series and Albion and that brilliant undersea game Archimedes Dynasty, that's a bunch of great games, let alone 'Good Old games'!

Hidden Worlds is just a bonus disc containing 10 extra levels. Wilderness Missions has new weapons, a new campaign, etc.

Blue Byte is now part of UbiSoft. As is SSI, so yeah, it'd be great to get them behind GOG sometime in the future.

This is absolutely right. Incubation is very much a puzzle game. There's not a whole lot of freedom in how you carry out the missions if you want a chance of winning. You have to plan ahead carefully in order to bring to bear the right combination of soldiers with the right amount of firepower at the right time.
man I LOVE this game, finished it three times on hardest difficulty setting, and I actually liked the puzzle type of gamplay, becouse the puzzles themselves were clever and it was entertaining and atmospheric. But the expansion was never realeased in my country and it's now hard to find so my eyes are on gog.com

NECRO THREAD
We at least uruk will be pleased to see this one resurrected. :P
Unfortunately it runs way too fast on newer computers. Even on a 500mhz processor it's like lightning.
