Planet Permadeath.

Risk of Rain, a procedurally generated action-packed platformer with brilliant, challenging gameplay and appealing retro graphics, in which time matters much more then winning, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

Personal log, entry 58-78. It's cold and dark in here. So cold, that I can feel it through my nanofiber suit. Strange alien monsters are roaming the place, dragging their claws in the dusty ground, clapping their jaws, red eyes flashing in the distance. I can hear them growl even through the thin atmosphere of poisonous gases. If it wasn't for the valuable artifacts there's no way I would've come here. I might be one of the toughest, meanest, deadliest people in the galaxy, but I swear--this planet will be the end of me. Well, that's enough yapping, time to get to work. End log.

Risk of Rain is an action platformer with roguelike elements. With permanent death as a primary feature, players will have to play their best to get as far as possible. Fight on a mysterious planet with randomly spawning enemies and bosses, either alone or with 3 friends in online co-op. With over 100 items at your disposal, you will find the tools you need to find the teleporter back home. Discover a myriad of randomly chosen stages, from the desolate forest to the frozen tundra. With procedural content generation and a sense of urgency that keeps the game exciting, this one will keep you glued to the screen for a long time. You will be failing, especially at first, but the game will have you coming back for more and more!

Start your journey into the land of random risks and ever-ticking clock in Risk of Rain, for only $3.99! The 60% off Indie Gem Promo discount offer lasts until Thursday, April 10, at 9:59AM GMT.

Nice Indie Gem Promo, heard many good things about this game.

IAmSinistar: It's a good game, but hard as heck. After a ton of plays I still can't get past the fourth level. Regardless I still recommend it. It's got a lot of variation, cool art, great music, and a bunch of unlockable characters and items. It's more than worth this sale price.
Ain't no shame in turning the game's difficulty down a notch before starting it up :)

But the lowest difficultly doesn't count your progress, and I'm trying to unlock the remaining challenges. :)
Aaaaargh, if only I didn't know what was coming out tomorrow I'd be all over this.
I read that the screen can be small for this game. Is there a scaling feature or a windowed mode to see things better?

It's not the screen that is small, just the player characters but the game does a great job of keeping the camera focused on you so you never lose your character even for a second :)

Wow, it looks like there is actually a risk of rain in my area!.... is this a sign? XD
I just watched the video and it's a bit too hectic for me. I does looks like a good deal for gamers who are into this kind of thing.

Have you asked your coffee?
Does Risk of Rain have Local/Offline multi-player or only Online?

That's good to hear, but is there also some kind of zoom to use if the character is too small?

No zoom, sorry :(

But don't let that put you off. You really need to see as much screen as possible in this game, and it doesn't feel too tiny or indistinct when playing. The scaling factor is just right.

Risk of Rain for $3.99? It's like God's subscriber base has gone down so he's moving to a Free-to-Play model with microtransactions.
